Hi everyone, I had Lap Gastric Bypass on Oct. 5,2004, I am down to 2031lbs from 256, I feel lost at what I should be eating now. I have increased my workout time, and I'm hitting the gym 3-4 times a week, and starting this week, I'm changing it to 5 days a week, but as far as what I should be eating to help with my weight loss. I cannot eat fish, eggs, and have a hard time with eating any bread (which is a good thing) but what next? really could use some people I can interact with all the time, to help keep me going.. thank you

Hi Paula Interact is what we do best on this board! Welcome... You might get some suggestions of what others are eating from the daily food log that we post here. It really helps keep us on track. Good decision on increasing your exercise..it will help. You have done a great job so far...Congratulations. Joanie

Hi Paula, Congratulations on your success. Try turkey chili, I love it and it's high in protein. I still eat alot of cheese, yogert, meat, veggies, etc. I do eat alot of fish and some chicken. Get yourself a good cookbook, it may help. Keep up the great work.

Hi Paula Sounds like you are doing just great. Congratulations on your success so far. Dr. Valin did my surgery as well. I bought several low carb cookbooks so that I could get some variety and not get bored with my foods. This has worked out wonderful for me. Just be careful as some of them are high in fat. You might want to make an appointment with Diana at Dr Valins office to go over a meal plan that's customized for you. Maggie

Paula: Can you make an appt. with a nutritionalist who is knowledgeable about WLS? I went to one a few months out and was given some great suggestions. Does your surgeon offer support group meetings? I get lots of great meal ideas from attending my monthly meeting at Yale. I eat cottage cheese, yogurt, fish, eggs, ricotta cheese mixed with sauce, chicken, beef, salad and usually a protein drink every day. I can not eat much food by volume but I can eat a variety of foods. I limit my carbs as much as possible. Sounds like you are doing great. Chryssie

Hi Paula: As you can see, the CT board is filled with great people who will listen and help. I do agree with Chryssie that you might want to consult with a nutritionist. I see a great nutritionist in Fairfield. She works very closely with WLS patients and is well versed, having a solid background with pre and post op bariatric issues. She has been a God-send as I journey with my weight loss. She helps me stay on track and guides me when I am struggling. NUTRITIONIST: Nancy Murphy 2000 Post Road, Suite 202, Fairfield, CT Phone: 203-254-9495 If you email me directly, I can then give you her email so you can contact her directly, if you like. PLEASE NOTE: I do not offer this info as some free advertisement for Nancy. She knows nothing about my comments. I offer this as a testimony to her commitment to helping me and others be as successful as possible. As well, I also agree with the suggestion about support group meetings. I get so much from the people at mine. It does sound like you are doing well, so give yourself that pat on the back and keep on keeping on. We are all different, so our journey to that goal is different. Hope this helps. Towanda Strong
