Hi, All! Hope you're enjoying the beautiful weather we're having... during the day, anyway. I was out running some errands today so I was in and out of the car and various stores, but I'm planning to take a walk outside (for a change) tomorrow afternoon and really appreciate temps. in the 50's. I was talking to Peter Ligas the other day and he, Melissa and I are planning to go to the Hamden support group meeting Mon. night (2/7). It's at the Senior Center behind the Miller Library and runs from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Joanie has her water aerobics class on Mon. night, so she won't be attending the meeting, but plans to join us for dinner afterward. I hope some others will join us. If anyone needs directions, please e-mail me. Debby

Hi Debby, I was wondering about your meeting, who usually attends this and what type of meetings are they. I am a month post op and a patient of Dr Barajas. Is this meeting only for certain patients. I would like to come some time if I can?? Please let me know what is involved. I live in Milford CT but I know where the Miller Library is I use to live in Hamden when I was first married and I have friends and family there. Thank you Kim Callahan

Kim This is a meeting of mixed preops and post ops. Because of the location there are a lot of people who had the surgeons from New Haven. We have been there a few times and it seems like a nice group. Debby is more up on the dates but I think its the second and fourth Mondays of the month from 6:30pm to 8pm. Its in the hospitality room behind the library. Hope to meet you there sometime. Hugs Joanie

Hi, Kim! The meetings of the Hamden support group are not affiliated with any particular doctor or hospital. They're open to everyone. My surgeon is Dr. Aranow, at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown, but I live in Hamden, so I sometimes go to the Hamden meetings instead of the Middlesex meetings. The Hamden meetings are at the Senior Center, behind the Miller Library, on Dixwell Avenue and are held on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month, from 6:30 till 8 p.m. I'm most likely to attend a Hamden meeting on the 1st Mon., since that night the Middlesex meeting is for pre-ops only. Since, to me, part of the whole experience of attending a support group meeting is the opportunity to get together with friends and also go out to dinner afterward (saving me from cooking not just 1 dinner, but 2-3, thanks to doggie bags), I'll post something on the CT board a few days before I plan to go to a meeting (whether in Hamden or Middletown) to remind people about the meeting and hopefully encourage someone to attend and join me for dinner. Hope to meet you sometime, Debby

Hi, Phyllis! I'm pretty much OK, but still get very tired. Today I slept late (till about noon, which was about 12 hrs. of sleep) and didn't do much except for taking a walk in my neighborhood for 1 1/2 hrs. this afternoon and spend some time online this evening, and eat and drink. That's the longest walk I remember taking in many yrs., so that felt great, but not long after I came in, I started feeling tired and I'm yawning as I sit here, after having been up for less than 9 hrs.! I keep waiting for the burst of energy I'm supposed to get, but it hasn't arrived yet. Are you going bowling Sun.? Debby
