Now that Im home my family has not really eatten in about 10 days because Im 9 days post op the frig is emptier than old mothers cubbard. I went on www.peapod.com that Stop and Shop offers to buy groceries and have them delivered. I figured it would be worth it so my family could eat. For a $5.00 delivery fee, I ordered all the groceries brands and all that my family normally eats. I was even able to tell them I wanted the deli ham sliced thin. and they are delivering these foods to my house at 3pm today. I only did it this way because I was post op and cant drive and my son is like a little bird, hungry all the time and I have nothing to feed him in the house. but after buying my stuff this way once, I dont think I will ever step foot in a grocery store again. Check it out folks what a deal. You can spend $50.00 or buy a ton like me it doesnt matter. Its worth the 5 bucks. heck it cost me that in gas just to drive there. I have an suv. No more standing in line for me. I had seen that peapod truck on my street once before, my neighbor used it at the holidays. and I was like hmmmm, I will have to try that sometime. All you post ops, get everything you need and not hurt yourself after surgery. what a concept. Im buying stock in peapod.

Hey Lauren, Its sounds like your doing great. I have heard about PeaPod too. A friend of mine from work use to use it when she lived alone and was on the third floor of Avalon. No elevators and outside stairs, she loved it. I live pretty close to Stop & Shop and my hubby does most of the groceries for me, he is good at it. He saves more money than I do. Well anyway, you sound like your doing fine, how are you feeling? Are you handling the food stages ok? I just got promoted to soft foods which is Stage 5. I have lost 36lbs so far and have been post op a month and 1 week. It feels great. I get to go back to work on Monday and can't wait. I was getting cabin fever being home. I had the laporscopic Gastric Bypass and the recovery was alot better than I thought it would be. How about you? Did you have open or Lapor? We all had been praying for you to have a great recovery and you sound great in your posts. My best to you and your family. Hugs KimC

Thanks for praying for me Kim. Im doing MUCHHHHHHHHHHH BETTER now. I am only 9 days post op so I am still on the ensure. I see dr bell next wednesday when he will put me on the next stage. Im not sure what to expect from here. my paperwork doesnt say much about that. I had a lap rny done at Yale. I am hoping to go back to work part time on the 14th of Feb and full time on the 22nd. I am very bored being home. I dont like tv much. Tomorrow Im going to do our taxes. Im trying to spend this time constructively. I will be doing my exercises in a little while. Im trying to get my body used to doing these things at the times I will be doing them. For instance when I go back to work I will have to do my treadmill at night, so thats when Im doing it now, to try and get myself adjusted to that schedule. If you could educate me on the food stages and tell me what thats all about I would appreciate it. Hugs to you, and blessings to you and your family Lauren

Lauren, When you go to see Dr. Bell next week, You will meet with Linda for a while. She will give you a "handout" with exactly what you can eat and when. I believe that at 2 weeks, you may eat soft foods..(eggs, mashed potatoes, cream of wheat, yogurt, etc)...on your third week anniversary, they allow you fish...your fourth week chicken...(on your forth week they also add a bunch of other stuff you can try like salad, etc) and the fifth week is steak/pork Hope this helps !! Hi Lauren. I also agree 100% with you peopod is great! I work for Stop & Shop and I always hear how people just love the peapod service. I myself have never used it because I live just a block away and my husband and daughter like to do the shopping I haven't set foot in the store since the day before my surgery and I'm going back to work next week...41 pounds less of me is going back. I'm nervous to see how my customers and friends react. I hope your doing well..and I'm really glad you like our Peapod service. If your ever around the Wethersfield area I work at the store on the Berlin Turnpike I'm at the service desk stop by and say hello. I work in the evenings. Take Care!! Erminia (hopefully my picture will be up soon so you can see who I am)

Sure is a lifesaver for invalids or folks with no time to shop! I hope that service still exists when I get old, or if I ever get sick...for now I prefer to be hands on picking out my stuff and getting out..the cabin fever can get rough. It does sound like a great deal for only $5. If I was shopping to where I had a bunch of heavy bags or had a family to shop for I would use it now also..great idea! Thanks for sharing! sher'
