Hi laurie, I have Oxford Health and had surgery in November. I swear OXHP was one of the most easiest insurances to deal with. I started process in July and in November had my surgery with no problems after I fulfilled all my doctor's requirements. I did not call them before I started the process to let them know I was considering gastric bypass. Only time I did call them was when I needed precertification for pyschologist and then to check on my status when my doctor sent over all paperwork. Nurse sent over paperwork on Wednesday, oxhp called her back to inform her what number to fax it to but she was not there and did not come back to Friday. On friday, she sent over paperwork and on Monday at 11:18 A.M.(I still remember) I was told my by their customer service dept that it was approved and they gave me ref#. They have paid all the bills and have had no problems except with the IV doc who does not accept OXHP's rate but no one has not contacted me, they are still working with insurance company regarding it and my surgery was over 40,000 dollars and everything was paid for. Welll email me if you have any more questions or concerns. Toya

I have oxford insurance and had NO problems at all with them approving the surgery. My surgeon's office did everything and I never even spoke to anyone from the insurance company. (Oxford Freedom was my plan) I believe it took about a week for the approval. Good luck to you with everything
