I am a month out .. today.. wow how time flies!!!! However, I am a bit discouraged.. I know it is too early to be discouraged but... I have lost a total of 25 pounds... (Which is good!) but the scale hasnt budged in over a week. I am only eating 2 ounce each meal... My body is just being stubborn, maybe. Anyway, I am going back to the gym today... maybe that will help... Thanks for letting me whine. Hugs and keep warm! Beckie

Hi Becky, Please don't get discouraged. Our bodies do get stubborn and put the brakes on sometimes...but, 25 lbs is excellent. I had had a 2 week plateau when I hit 6 weeks (that was also around xmas and I wasn't as compliant as I should have been). I started to exercise and the weight started coming off again. Get out to the gym and have some fun. I personally love the ellyptical machine because it is low impact on your joints. Take care and smile, Kelly

Stay away from weight scale and do your excercise everyday and use your tools. The weight will move itself later. Kathy K

Hi Beckie, Don't worry. I had a 4 week plateau after a 20 lb. weight loss in 12 days. It was very discouraging, but it passed, I wrote things down, drank my water, and am now exercising each day. This too shall pass... Pam

Hi Beckie. You need to remember that your body was shocked by the surgery and then by a sudden drop in weight. 25lbs in a month is very good and you need to remember that everyone will lose differently. You will go thru times when the scale doesn't move for days or even weeks but are you measuring yourself? Sometimes you will still be losing inches but not pounds. It is just your system catching up to itself. One of the hardest things you will have to realise is sometimes you will need to increase how much protein you are getting in a day to start the loss again. You might want to talk with your nutritionist to see how much you should be getting in now as you might be not getting in enough. Don't forget also with you starting the gym today that weight loss might not show up on the scale because muscles weigh more than fat. I really recommend that you take your measurements and that will show you how you are losing. You can email me if you need someone to talk with. Hope this helps you. Heidi

Thanks guys... I am changing up my meals a little today as well. I am having my (gross) protein shake so make sure I get enough protein.... I am also going to try to up my water intake today.. I have a hard time with it. I will measure myself tonight... and I will hide the scale. If I dont see it, I wont want to step on it.... Thanks again, Beckie

Beckie, it's very common to hit your first plateau at this stage. It can last for a couple of weeks, so try not to get too frustrated. It will pass. I am told that your body needs this time to catch up with the rapid weight loss. Even though you are not losing pounds, I would be willing to bet that you are losing inches. This will pass. Hugs, Maggie

Hi, Beckie! Stop rushing things... today is only 4 wks... we'll get to our 1-mo. mark on Thurs. I spent about a week going up and down the same 2 lbs., then I got my period on Thurs. and have been losing steadily since then. If I remember correctly, didn't you have your's while we were in the hospital? Maybe your body is doing pretty much what mine was doing and you'll get your period and then start losing again. Hugs, Debby

Like everyone said, you are normal. Yeah!!! I know how frustrating it can be. I have gone through several plateaus but now I know to just ride it out and eventually it will break. You are doing marvelous Eileen

Hi Beckie, Like eveyone else said, Don't get discouraged! The weight will continue to come off and sometimes I think the slower the better so your skin will have time to adjust. Enjoy every pound for what it is because once it's gone it's not coming back. When I hit a plateau I really increase my water intake and that really seems to jump start my weight loss again. Sandy
