Crushed Zoloft YUCK!

I had open RNY on January 13 and tried to crush my first Zoloft pill this morning. When I tried to take it I suddenly got sick. It was so gross I couldn't take the taste of it. Does anyone else have this problem? I don't want to stop taking the Zoloft since I know I'm feeling very emotional right now and sad. Is there a certain food that makes the zoloft more tolerable?

I swallowed my Zoloft from the beginning..the doctor told me it was small enough to take with a little water. I never had a problem with it... Joanie

I take Paxil and it is NASTY too! I tried protein drinks, juice, crystal light... you name it (liquids) and couldn't handle it. At my 2 week check-up I practically begged for the liquid for but found that insurance wouldn't cover it since I wasn't due for a refill..... Anyhow, I was told I could cut it into small pieces to swallow.... It was the only was I could get it down! Good Luck, Carmen

If you cant swallow it whole, I think you can buy a pill cutter and cut it up a bit and swallow in small pieces. I am having lap band surgery on 2/10 and hope I will be able to continue my meds. I take prozaac and that is capsule filled. I dont think I could cut that one down. Also, I take asacol because I have ulcerative colitis. I will need to take those pills whole as you are not suppose to crush them. I have a pre op appointment class on wednesday and I will bring up the pill questions. Good luck to you. Joanne

Hi, Amy! I don't take Zoloft, but I do have to crush my Norvasc and Lisinopril every day. I mix them with about 2 oz. Carb Countdown chocolate milk (and then drink another 2 oz. right after) and that covers up most of the taste and I get 6 grams of protein at the same time. Debby

Amy, I also take Zoloft and the taste is SO gross!!! I usually mix it in crystal light or something like that in a little medicine cup (that we got in the hospital) ... then quickly take another sip right after.... Good luck! Beckie

I did the same thing. I crushed it and barfed it back up. Dr. Aranow told me to break it in half and take it. I haven't had a problem since. And I am so glad to be on it! ;)
