St Francis Support Group Mtg - Dr. Raftopoulos' Patients
I'm doing much better Kathy... It's been a long road & recovery. I go back to Dr. R next week for a check up & to see if I put on any weight.. (I think I did.. I don't weigh myself).
I still have good/bad days but overall feel like I'm on the upswing. Still no carbohydrates unless in fruits/veggies/dairy only. I actually feel pretty "healthy" without the other carbohydrates in my system. I did try to sneak in a little bread a few weeks back & I paid the piper for that one.. SOOOO SICK.. the next day.
Are you finding since your gall bladder is out that you need to avoid certain foods? I can't tell with mine being out honestly.. I think it's because of my system being so compromised right now.
Dr R was mentioning wanting to do another scope & take pictures of my pouch he thinks it got stretched out from the obstruction.. only because of the volume of what food I can eat has increased.. (I eat like a 5-6 year old) instead of a "Toddler" I'll probably let him do it in the fall maybe October when I have a vacation week.
Nothing much new on my end.. back to my normal work & lifestyle routine which is nice.... Still supplimenting with ALOT of protein drinks daily to keep the strength up...
My son starts school Tuesday so lots of running around to do this weekend.. :( He's ready though.. misses it.. & his friends.
I'm glad you're getting better Kath.. you had a rough patch there also for awhile.. crossing my fingers (& toes) that this will be the last of it for you.

I was allergic to the suture material and after that was cleaned off I felt 100% better within 24 hours. I have found that I can eat pistacios again but I haven't found anything I can't eat. I still don't eat much cause every time I start to get where I can eat a "meal" instead of a snack I get sick and the pouch shrinks. Then I am back to square one with how much I can eat. Glad you are feeling better and let us know what Dr. R. says at your next appt.
I shall now be know as Hagatha: Queen of the queens.

I loved the meeting! I feel that everyone is very supportive and post op people are honest with you and willing to share their knowledge and do's and dont's. I can't wait until next month's meeting. When I was going to see Dr. Tishler at Hartford Hospital they made the support meetings mandatory and always had a speaker on a particular topic like sleep apnea or other things. While they were informative they weren't as inimate and supportive as the meeting I went to this past week. I didn't feel judged or looked down on; just understood and supported. Hope to meet you next month Mickey=)
do any of Dr. Barba's patients go??
