Waiting.........
Hi everyone, hope all is well with all of you. I look at the boards almost daily and post occasionally. My surgery date is in about 6 weeks, last weigh in and pre-op class on Feb 18th. I am enduring one of the harder parts (as far as I'm concerned); giving up my diet coke. I am weaning myself down, yes, I drank approx a 6-pack/day. Can't have it post-op, so I am weaning to avoid caffeine withdrawal headache. Anyway, trying to be good so not to gain weight before weigh-in and watching the calender. I am starting to get a little nervous. Haven't had pre-approval with insurance company yet either, that will make me more at ease. Well, gotta go, take care everyone.
Welcome to the board Jennifer! I live in Burlington, so not very far from you.
Where are you having your surgery? Are you having open? Stopping carbonated drinks is so difficult. I was so addicted to flavored seltzer pre op and was so afraid of giving it up. I don't even miss it anymore and it's the one thing I won't mess with because I heard it can stretch your pouch. Withdrawal headaches are the worst too, weaning is very smart of you.
If you have any questions or just need to vent, I am an email away.
Start your countdown now!

Hi, my date is 2/10. I have been sick and on steriods with uri and asthma kicking up. Hope I can wean off the meds before my surgery date of 2/10. I would hate to be coughing right after surgery. OUCH.
I am having surgery at St. Francis, Dr. Barba. Who are you going to. I live in Southington, close by.
Good luck to you.
Joanne
Hi Joanne, I'm sorry to here your sick.
I , too had asthma and lung problems pre-op and practically lived on prednisone so I feel your pain. I hope you feel better soon. You definitly won't want to still be sick when you have your surgery and I believe you will need to be off the steroids for a little bit before surgery. You might want to check with Dr. Barba on that one. I live near you also. I'm right in Plainville on the southington border. I grew up in Southington most of my life though. I had my surgery through Dr. Aranow in Middletown and attend his support group meetings so if you ever want to join me, you are welcome to. If you ever want to chat, I am here. Email me anytime. Best of luck to you and many prayers headed your way for a speedy recovery and an uneventful surgery.

Hi Jennifer, Welcome to the family on the CT board. Pre-op I was a die hard Diet soda drinker but my addiction was Wais****chers... Oh my did I love it. Your doing the right thing by weaning yourself off it now. Every few days drink one less can and when your feaning for that diet coke try to drink a glass of water. I admit I havn't given up caffeine all together. I still have my 1 to 2 cups of java almost everyday but I am on the road to kicking that habit too. I can't get myself to drink decaf. It just taste yucky to me. But I do drink lots of decaf tea and that helps with getting fluids in. I wish you the best of luck on your journey and feel free to post away. We are always here if you need advice or just need to vent. I'll be sending prayers your way that you get the insurance approval very soon.
