OMG, Kathy, it is SO good to see your smiling face!! Just what I needed today! Don't be so hard on yourself, are you a perfectionist by any chance?? And Carolyn, may I say, YOU LOOK WONDERFUL!! LOVE your new pic! Kathy, I bet if you submitted a new pic we'd see a big difference, we are all so hard on ourselves, we see that one year window and think that's it. IT'S NOT! I lost more during my 2nd year. Fitday is a great idea, but please, Carolyn AND Kathy, CELEBRATE how far you've both come! I am so amazed as I remember seeing and reading your stories pre op. Be happy, live each day to it's fullest, really, have you ever been this weight in a long long time???? love you both! Cheryl

Hi Kathy! Wow, Mary Lou and I were just talking about you the other day and saying how we hadn't seen you on the boards in ages. I totally can relate to your state of mind and state of eating. I guess this is a phase most of us go through around this time in our journeys. I think this is where we seperate the women from the girls (or men from the boys) so to speak. We are at a crossroads where we have a huge decision to make. In someways this decision seems to be bigger than the one we made to have surgery. Some of you maybe asking what is this decision??? Well the decision is to realize the old habits are creeping back and put a stop to them or to go on and little by little watch the weight creep back on. I have been struggling as are many of you from the sounds of it. I have so far refused to let any of the weight loss return but..............I have also come to the realization that dieting and exercise is now a part of my life for ever. Yes the "D" word. I can eat normal size meals for the most part and I still don't eat any starches to speak of but my noshing in the evenings is what is getting to me. I know it is time to bite the bullet and confront the issues that cause me to continue this distructive eating. No time like the present huh? Yep, I am off to the gym this am for water aerobics and then I am going to sit down and write myself a letter. Maybe we can start a 12 step program for the night time eaters and the noshers amongst us...... On another note, Kathy, I am hosting a baby shower for Heather S. next Sunday (Jan. 30th) at 1:30pm at my condo in Milford. Please email me if you are interested in joining us. It should be lots of fun. Take care and remember we love you and you are definitely not alone in your struggles. Linda

HI Kathy, Nice to meet you! My name is Christine, I'm new around here. I decided to start seeing a psychologist. My first appointment is later today. I wanted to get a handle on things before surgery (2/15/05), and after. I figure I'm going through all this, and don't wan't to do anything to ruin it. My Uncle had the surgery about 3 years ago. He has been putting on quite a bit of wait recently. I'm worried about him. I talked to him but he gets all defensive and says it's normal. I wish he would log on here and get some support, cuz you guys are wonderful and he really needs it. Anyway, I guess the point I'm trying to make is we all need some sort of support, especially when we get in our "ruts". I think this board is wonderful, and I hope to get lots more support, and to support others. I've been told it helps to keep a journal, I just can't seem to keep one going. Take care, and I hope things get better! Christine

Hi Kathy, I, too, am struggling, and I am only 6 months out! I saw Dr. Bell and he tells me I'm doing fine, but the plateau is killing me. I am not eating a lot, but I'm testing things for sure! We all need to move to a warmer climate, so we can meet every day and exercise together. What do you think? I'm thinkin' of ya, and I can relate as well. Hang in! xo JA
