Anti-depressants and surgery

Haven't had surgery yet but hope to in the near future.  I've been on Cymbalta and Wellbutrin for a long time now (been on meds for over 20 years).  Are these meds and others tolerable after surgery?

Thanks

You shouldn't have a problem taking those types of medications as long as they are not time released. Your doctor would have to monitor your response to them after surgery in case adjustments in dosage were needed.

If your Wellbutrin is the XL, you may have to switch over to the SR.  I took the XL and pooped it out whole, not getting any use of it.  And, as long as the pill is the size of an M&M or smaller, it's ok.  The Cymbalta is a capsule, right?  That's ok.

Our systems cannot break down time released meds after surgery because of lack of acids.  Talk to your doctor about this prior, so you don't waste a lot of money on a med that doesn't work anymore.

Good luck!
