QUESTION FOR EVERYONE... MY MOTHER TOOK ME OUT TO LUNCH TODAY... CHINESE (MY PRE-OP FAVORITE THING!) LOOKING AT THE MENU... I DECIDED TO OPT FOR CHICKEN CHOW MEIN I ASKED THEM TO USE VERY LITTLE OIL IN IT'S PREP. I ONLY ATE 1 OR 2 TBSP OF RICE WITH MY 3/4 CUP OF HEAVEN!!!! I FIGURED.... COMPARED TO MY PRE-OP CHOICE.... OF A PU-PU PLATTER FOR 2 (WHICH I COULD ALMOST FINISH) AND FRIED RICE... I THOUGHT THIS WAS AN OK TREAT. WHAT DOES EVERYONE DO IN THESE SITUATIONS/ OR ON SPECIAL OCCASIONS. IF SOMEONE SAYS.. STEAMED VEGETABLES I WILL CRY. I HAVE BEEN TRACKING MY DIET ON FITDAY RECENTLY WHICH I FIND HELPS ALOT... I BARELY HIT 1000 MOST DAYS... I GUESS I AM ALWAYS WORRIED ABOUT BLOWING THIS SURGERY.. SO WHEN I DO HAVE A MEAL THAT ISN'T EXACTLY "HEALTHY" I ALWAYS SECOND GUESS. SHOULD WE TRY TO STAY AWAY FROM SPECIAL TREAT MEALS?? I HAVE NEVER CHEATED WITH SUGARY SWEETS.... I THINK IT WOULD BE TOO EASY TO FALL OFF THE WAGON. PLEASE POST WHAT YOU ALL THINK... IT HELPS ALOT TO KNOW THAT OTHER PEOPLE FEEL LIKE I DO... BECKY DOWN 106.5 LBS SINCE 10/1/04

Hi Becky, I am by no means an expert but it sure sounds like you made a very healthy and realistic choice for lunch. You have lost 106 lbs. all ready? That is so awesome I think under the cir****tance you should be proud of yourself! We have to eat every meal acording to our diet and I would say you did. Chicken Chow mein is one of the healthier meals you could have. It's not fried and it has vegtables as well as protien and the white rice isn't fried either so that's good. Becky- I don't think that anyone is going to argue with your choice, given that you're doing so well with you weightloss! To be devil's advocate though...(get ready to cry) the best choice probably would have been to have them prepere you some steamed chicken or shrimp with vegetables and have them bring you the sauce of your choice ON THE SIDE. Now, as I said, no one is going to berate you for having what you did, especially on an occasional basis. But, clearly you're feeling a little guilty about it...so I'm just putting another option out there. I personally, am always second and third guessing my choices, before I even make them...it's kind of obsessive, but I don't feel I have any other choice. So, I guess I know how you feel. Best, Lisa C
