aetna and medicare question

I have aetna primary, a plan that will absolutely not pay for WLS in 2005 without the rider, which my husbands company did not purchace and will not purchase, and I also have medicare A & B, and my surgeon is telling me that medicare will will not pay for this and to go to the hospital to make payment arrangements.......None of the makes sense!!! I meet medicares requirements, althought I know that they will not pre-cert anything.....Will the surgeon submit to Aetna and get a denial then submit to medicare????? Every time I call medicare, they tell me that as long as you meet requirements they will pay.......I am very frustrated and confused.......Has anyone been in my situation???? With a primary insurance that wont pay and medicare secondary........ Thank you in advance.......Mary

Hi Mary, I have Aetna for insurance and didn't have a problem. I had to meet all of their requirements though. I had to see a psychaitrist once, see a nutritionist for 3 months and go to Curves for 3 months.Once I did all of that they were fine with it. You should call Aetna and check into that. Hi Christine, Every Aetna plan is different......Your company must have bought the rider in 2005, my husbands company didn't.........They WILL NOT pay, unless the rider is bought, and the company will not purchace it....Thanks......Mary
