First post op appt
Hi everyone,
I had my first post op appt today with Dr Valin and all though I didn't see him (I saw his wife Deb) I told on myself about overeating or should I say drinking. I told Deb that I had eaten more jello than I should have at one sitting and that I had drank to fast. She thanked me for being honest with her and examined me and said that I hadn't done any damage. She also pointed out that I was depressed after surgery and that I was off two of my antidepressandts so this wasn't uncommon. My blood pressure, temprature, breathing, incision were all great and I have lost 31 lbs. already! All in all I am doing fine and am now on to stage four on the food.
I am so happy with how things went.
I also saw Dr Gupta the pulmonary expert and had a breathing test done which had good results and I will go see him again in April when they will do another chest CTscan and compare the glands that are swollen in my chest. It could have been just from an infection. He said he would be able to tell more in three months so again all in all I think it went fine.
I want to thank everyone for their feed back and the suggestion to tell Dr Valin about how I was eating and thinking. Everything seems to have come out great in the long run and that is the best results I could have hoped for
so thanks for your help!
Love and Peace

Congratulations Ann,
I think that is so wonderful on how much you have lost so far. I have lost about the same amount, my surgery was in December and I did realy well on my one week visit. Now I just have to wait three weeks to see Dr. Barajas and find out if I can drive and go back to work.
I did the same as you with overdrinking, but I could feel it in my chest. So I cut down, its hard to cough or laugh sometimes, the incisions are very soar. I had laporscopic Gastric Bypas RNY, but recovery is going well. How about you? what type did you have and when??
We might of ran into each other at appointments.
Well I wish you all the best and if ever you need to talk don't hesitate to contact me.
God Bless

Anne~
I also told on myself at my 3 month visit (12/27/04). The reason I did was because I figured if I couldn't be honest with Deb, then I would also be fooling myself. Also, how would my tool help me if I didn't fess up.
During the holidays I had experimented with sugar and made the grand realization that I DO NOT dump. I told Deb and we worked it out. She did not scold me, but helped me realize I need to be careful.
It is so important to tell EVERTHING at your appoinments. I'm glad you did. You only hurt yourself if you don't.
Keep up the good work!
