SAGA??
Hi Everyone,
Has anyone dealt with or is participating in the state SAGA program? Since my insurance is about to expire ( a cobra plan ) and no other insurance company will cover me because I'm considered High Risk since I have diabetes and a bunch of other comorbities along with the weight. I've been turned down by every company that I've talked to. I also spoke to the insurance commision and they did give me the names of 3 companies that would cover me even as high risk, but their premiums are so far out of reach for me that there's no way I can do it. I have my paper work in for the SAGA program, I just hope I can qualify. Otherwise I have no idea how I'll pay for my meds if nothing else.
I have all of my testing done and have just been waiting for my surgeon to send everything through to my insurance company. Problem is is that I've been waiting for that since Oct. I tried to get copies of my records from the hospital myself and they've been jerking me around since Oct too. I am so depressed that after all this time and effort, it looks like this surgery may well not happen. I've been working on this since Aug 2003 by the way.
Guys, I just don't know what to do. I need this surgery so badly. I'm back in school and right now I don't know that I'll be able to do the work I'm training for if I don't get rid of this weight. Besides that I just want my life back. I take 13 meds a day, I feel like crap all the time, the arthritis is so aggrevated.......well, you all know what I mean. Please, if anyone has any ideas, I need them.
Thanks for letting me vent again. But I feel cornered and angry.
Take good care!
Brightest Blessings

Heather,
I had Saga through the state for a while...let me tell you, you cant make too much money to have this insurance.they dropped me when i started my new job where i actually made a little more than minimum wage.....there might be different levels of it, i dont know..but i do know that when i had it, my surgeon did not accept it, so i think it might depend on the surgeon??? i did see one SAGA insurance listed somewhere on here where someone had used it..maybe on the list of insurances..i dont remember..i dont know when your insurance expires, but i would get on the horn with other surgeons if possible and let them know your plight....maybe one will be kind enough to quickly fit you in, especially if all your ducks are in a row...it wouldnt hurt to see
