State of CT EE - Plastics?
Rich - Who is your insurance carrier? Mine is Anthem. I found the medical criteria on anthem's site and posted this info on the plastics board to find out what the heck it all means.....keep your eyes on this post (link below) and maybe we will learn something :-) http://www.obesityhelp.com/forums/plasticsurgery/a,messagebo ard/action,replies/board_id,4861/cat_id,4461/topic_id,369894 3/
WOW! You are looking great girl! All I know about insurance and plastics is if it's medically needed (as in you have rashed and stuff like that) most companies will cover it. I know I just got approval for the removal of an old scar with a plastic surgeon. The thing is 3 inches long and sensitive and I am just getting sick of it. Good luck with getting it covered.
I shall now be know as Hagatha: Queen of the queens.

Thanks! You are too! The skin is driving me nuts. I can hide it pretty good with clothes on but when the clothes come off - forget it! My surgeon brought it up at my last appt and said it was minimal but plastics would yield great results and that it was likley that my insurance would deny it due to the fact that it was not excessive. I do get a rash every once and a while in my belly button...maybe I should start calling my doc and letting them know when that happens so that it is documented. I think I will call my ins co today... :-)
I'm also a state employee covered by Healthnet. I still haven't made an appointment for a plastics consult but am hoping to in the fall. I don't have a huge amount of skin to get rid of either and most people tell me I'm crazy when I say I'm planning a tummy tuck but those people also don't see me naked ! Dr. Bell has been very encouraging about the tummy tuck and thinks I owe it to myself to finish the job so I'm kind of planning to go for a consult in the fall and maybe do the surgery over the winter. If the insurance doesn't cover it then I might use the Yale plastics clinic.... I've heard they are very good and cheap too.
Thanks. I go to my surgeon on Sept 11 and will talk to him. I called our ins and they told me no, they don't cover it. Wouldn't even look it up for me but I was able to find some criteria on the Anthem site. I have found that you have to call them many times and get a different answer everytime. Let me know what you find out pls and if you don't mind, who are you using for plastic surgeon. I thought I would NEVER have plastics....but my skin is itchy all the time and I keep getting rashes and I am sick of it. Thanks.
