My 2-Week Visit
Hi, all!
This afternoon I had my 2-week visit (15 days after surgery) with Dr. A. Unfortunately, due to the snow storm, I was wearing boots instead of shoes, which added a little to my weight. Normally that wouldn't have mattered to me so much, but when I saw the display on the scale read "300.0", I realized that with shoes I would have weighed less than 300 lbs. for the 1st time in about 8 or 10 yrs. Oh, well... I'll be there by my next appointment on the 28th. My highest weight ever was 366 about 2 yrs. ago. At my 1st visit to Dr. A. in Oct. I weighed 340 and by Nov. was down to 330. At the hospital, just before surgery, I weighed 318 1/2. So I've lost 18.5 lbs. since surgery and 40 lbs. since I started with Dr. A.
Dr. A. said that everything looked fine and told me that the longer the steri-strips stay in place, the better my scar will look. That's fine with me; they don't bother me and only a few of them are a little loose on one side. I'm sitting here now without a binder for the 1st time since surgery. It's nice to have it off, but I feel somewhat unprotected. Dr. A. advanced me to Stage 4 (purees) and I mentioned that I was looking forward to having a scrambled egg. He responded that eggs and chicken are the hardest foods to deal with at first and said that the egg might just sit like a lump in my pouch. He suggested that I start with tuna instead. So that's what I'm about to do as soon as I get off the computer. Why so late you wonder? Partly because Dr. A. ran late and my 4 p.m. appointment started at close to 5 p.m., which then put me into rush hour on top of the storm. So instead of getting home in 35-40 mins., it took me 1 1/2 hrs.! If I hadn't wanted to advance to Stage 4 so badly, I would have rescheduled my appointment. Then once I was home, I received several phone calls from friends and family checking on how my appointment went and making sure that I had arrived home safely. Then I had some pills to take, so that required drinking and then I had to wait before eating. So I thought I'd get online and post this message, but I also checked e-mail and got another phone call and before I knew it, it was 11 p.m. I'm going to have to learn to schedule eating and drinking better in the future if I'm going to manage to get all my fluids and protein in and still have time for anything else.
So I'm off to my tuna...

Hi Debby,
You sound like you are doing great and very upbeat and enegetic!
Congratulations on your weight loss. It is a great feeling isn't it? I personally never had a problem with eggs, but everyone is different and I don't like tuna so I used to have 1/2 egg every day. Keep up the great work!
