Morning everyone. Have any of you felt down or depressed after surgery. I have heard this is normal but boy.... I dont like it. I was on Zoloft (100mg) before surgery and when they sent me home on 12/30 they cut it down by half and I am only taking 50 mg now... I am not sure if that has a lot to do with it but... thanks for listening to me.... Beckie

Yes, It is normal to feel depressed after surgery. I have not felt down or depressed myself but I heard some people said from support group. My advise is to make an appoitnment to see Dr Kim Daniels about this. I heard she is very good with this. Hang in there! Hugs Kathy k

Beckie, I went through the same thing. Also, now we absorb anti depressants differently. We cannot take long release ones. I take Lexapro and it is working. But you have to find out the best for you. I cried so much after surgery. Didn't need a reason, a Hallmark commercial would do it!! Hang in there, Your NOT alone! Cheryl

Oh gosh yes, it will get better. I was entirely depressed for the first 3-4 weeks - from the physical surgery and from missing my dearest friend, food. It is SO normal. And after a few weeks the anesthesia got out of my system and I was so happy to get to each new phase of the program, like pureed foods, then regular protein. We've all been in this boat and you will get through it just fine. Take care! Linda 334/207

What you are feeling is normal!!!! It does get better though. I am still more irritable and depressed at times, but it is so much better than the first few weeks!! I would call your Dr and see if you can go to a higher dose... There is no way I would have let them decrease my dose with everything else going on at that time! Hang in there! Carmen

I hadn't realized that they lowered my dosage until I was home and had to take it for the first time... I will have to talk to Dr. A when I go on the 11th.

Hi Beckie, Yup, like everyone before said, you are normal!! Gee, now don't you feel better?? LOL. Seriously, take the time to treat yourself as top priority right now - whatever that means for you. It's no fun, we all know, but it does pass. I promise. It all gets better from here! Peace, -Deb

Hi Beckie, I thought I was the only one too...I have been feeling so sad and depressed since I got home too. I spend the whole night crying. I don't know what it is. I never felt this way before the surgery. My family feels so bad seeing me this way and I try to tell them that I don't want to be sad but I don't know why i cry. I think I am missing food....it is so hard for me..sometimes I just want to lock myself in my room and not come out. I haven't been doing good at all with the protein everytime I try to drink it I get so sick it's horrible. I tried calling Alena at the Dr. A's office but she wasn't much help. My appointment is on the 11th too..at 11am. What time is your appointment maybe we will see each other. Keep you chin up I am positive we will get through this!!! Dont be sad your friend Erminia
