What an inspiration you are!! I am glad you started this... I have been walking regularly since my surgery-used to be 6 or 7 days a week..but the past two months it had dwindled to 3 and 4 times a week...still pretty good. I joined water aerobics...started Monday. My second class is tonight..I hope they don't cancel because of the weather. If they do I will pull out the treadmill and do 20 min on that...I promise Kathy!!!

Hi Kathy,
Well, I DID IT!! I exercised yesterday after work, and again this morning.
I did 15 minutes on the elliptical - that's all I could do - sore leg muscles!
I will try to build up alittle every day.
You are right, I am lucky I can listen to music while I exercise. I like to put on the headphones and forget I am exercising. This morning though, halfway thru the batteries went dead, and I considered stopping the exercising...but I thought about how I have to post here what I did, and I finished the 15 minutes. It was okay without music too...

You got me up off my ass and down to the "gym" in the cellar.
Stretches-back and abdominal exercises- 10 minutes
exercise ball and elastic bands 10 minutes
Treadmill 10 min
Nordic Trak ski machine 10 minutes
weight lifting-10 minutes
abdominal machine 12 reps
Nordic Trak 10 minutes
Treadmill 5 minute cool down
Now I have so much energy I'm ready to tackle the day!

Good for you for finishing the exercise-Ann. We wouldn't want to let Kathy down...she is such an inspiration to us all. If my water aerobics class is cancelled tonight...I will get on that dreaded treadmill...(Gosh-I hate that thing!)...and report back to our own personal trainer-Kathy..tomorrow!

OK, I have got to be more motivated. I felt pretty sick yesterday so I didn't do anything.... Today I am feeling better so I will do at least 30 mins w/ my exercise ball tonight. My husband is supposed to get me up w/ him in the mornings so I can do some work then, but he must have decided to let me sleep in a bit today...
I also need to get together w/ Maggie so we can go to the Y together! Having a partner or trainer really does help keep you motivated!!

You are so right about having an exercise buddy. I have a dear friend that I work out with. It makes the time on the treadmill go by so much faster! Plus, my friend's children and my children all play together in the childcare center so it's a win/win for everyone!
Today I did a Pilates class at the gym for the first time. My god, I have heard people say how difficult this is but it was just awful! I am not sure I have ever used some of the muscles that I used today! Although I will not look forward to this class, I plan on going every week because it really does seem to target the areas that I have the most problems with. In addition to this I did 45 minutes on the treadmill and 3 cycles on the weight machines.
I have finally hired a personal trainer. I am working so hard at getting my body healthy again I figured I might as well make sure I am doing it right. I have my first appointment with him on Friday and look forward to some guidance in the exercise department.
