Hi everyone, I'm the opposite I drink a ton of water all the time. Right now when I have a meal I must drink about 20 to 30 ounces of water with it. I'm thinking it's going to be hard first of all not to drink with my meal and then to stop an hour before it as well. I don't drink soda, tea, coffee and very rarely crystal light. Pretty much jus****er and sometimes milk. It's going to be strange just taking little tiny sips of water. I've been known to just down an eight ounce glass all at once! Has anybody else had a problem with limiting themselfs on their fluid in take? I'm trying to just sip right now but it is totaly foreign to me. Anne B

Hi Anne! Whoa, you are seriously going to have a tough time with the sipping - especially at first. I know post-ops that can chug fluids .. but not me. I can sip during meals, but it doesn't feel so great. When not eating, I can take pretty big sips, but not really chug. Like you, I used to drink A LOT while eating, so that was a real tough adjustment! Happy New Year!! Tara

Anne, I was and still am a big water drinker and also drank 16-20oz with my meals pre-op. But the size of your new pouch makes it impossible to drink that much all at once so you will have no choice. Actually you won't want to have more than your pouch can handle because of the discomfort. I don't find it too hard not to have fluids with my meals unless I haven't had enough between meals, then I am really thirsty. So it is really important to drink as much as you can between meals. I find that even if I try to sneak a couple of sips in after a meal, it feels uncomfortable. terri

Anne my angelette! I know it seems incomprehensible to not be able to drink with your meals. I thought I would have such a hard time with that - but ya know, it hasn't really been that hard. And it's very important not to drink for at least 1/2 to 1 hour after you are done, as the fluids tend to flush out your pouch and eliminate that full feeling too quickly. It seems like a huge mountain to overcome now, but you're going to do fine. I actually used to drink tons as a pre-op, but now I'm struggling to get enough fluids in. Go figure!! Have a fabulous New Year! 4 days and counting!!! Hugs, Carla
