Coughing blood, Part 2
Hello my online friends,
I went to Dr. Barba today, and he said it sounds like it could be a stricture and an ulcer.
A stricture because of the nausea and the stuck feeling I get after eating, and an ulcer (although it would be unusual this early out) because of the blood.
In any event, his office will call their affiliated gastroenterologist tomorrow (Tuesday) to set up a consult and an endoscopy. I'm hoping to get in by Wednesday at the latest, but I'll wait and see.
In the meantime, Dr. Barba wants me to get some bloodwork done, and to take metroclopramide three times a day for the nausea. I'm also taking prevacid 2x a day.
I can't say enough good things about Dr. Barba; he's very compassionate and concerned, and not at all condescending. I didn't feel rushed at all, and I know he's concerned about me. That level of trust is something I have had with only one other doctor, and I am sooo glad I chose Doc Barba.
He told me to continue eating soft foods and drinking. I told him I don't really feel like eating, and he was OK with that as long as I'm getting in my protein. I'm about to make a 32-gram protein hot chocolate.
Although I don't feel physically better, I feel emotionally better having seen him.
I want to sincerely thank everyone *****sponded to my earlier messages. You don't know how good it feels to know that there are kind and wonderful people -- folks I've never even met!-- who take the time to be encouraging and supportive. So THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! for all of your responses, your prayers, and your good wishes.
As soon as I know something more definitive, I will post again.
Oh, and I got weighed today too. I've lost 36 pounds in 35 days. Very, very good, says doc. That puts me down, in total, about 58 pounds since my heaviest in June.
Take care, and have a wonderful day.
