Good morning to all, Ok, I am 3 weeks and 1 day out and VERY constipated! Any suggestions as to what we can do since we have a pouch and have to be careful with what we put in our bodies!!! Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated!! Carrie

Smooth Moves Tea. Buy it at health food stores or Stop and Shop in the section where they have the gourmet foods/specialty foods...near the deli counter. Just let it steep for about 20 minutes then drink it. Drink it at night...the next morning BLAMMO! WOOO HOOO! It's wonderful and all natural...so much better for you then the OTC stuff.

Carrie, I feel for you because at 3 weeks out I was also feeling like this. I tried everything and it did not work for me. I called the doctor *****commended Milk of Magnesia, Mineral Oil, Prune Juice, Suppostories and enema. I finally had to drink hot cocoa in the morning and warm water right when I first woke up in the morning. I took a suppostory(sp) the night before and I still did not go. I would take a couple of spoonfuls of SF FF ice cream and I was off to the bathroom. If worse comes to worse call your doctor. I was scared of a bowel obstruction. Hope this helps Toya

When all else fails, get a Fleet Mineral Oil enema and a regular Fleet enema, Administer the first one, retain as long as possible in the correct position..(instructions on the package)...it will soften things up..and then follow with the regular one and you will be cleaned out thoroughly and inexpensively. Your pouch will not be affected. No nasty taste to deal with and usually very little cramping. Sher'

My Dr said to keep some Milk of Magnesia on hand. Its safe for your pouch and doesn't taste too bad. Carmen

FIRST thing- at 3 weeks, you should be telling your surgeon about everything that is abnormal. Please call his office and get his advice and let them know what you're experiencing. Then, when they go ahead and tell you MOM or the like, you'll feel much better. You could buy some benefiber crystals and add them into something that you eat to get more fiber in oyr diet and keep you more regular in the future. Good luck! Lisa C
