Yesterday, while I was supposed to be working, I was surfing the internet for tasteless protein supplements and I cam accross a website... in it they advertised a book written by Susan Maria Leach. She has had WLS. Anyway, the book is called "Before and After" Living and Eating Well after Weight Loss Surgery. I am only one chapter in and it is like she pulled the words out of my head and wrote them on paper. She also has included 100 Low carb/ High protein receipes. If you want to buy yourself something for Christmas, buy this book.. Pre- Op or Post-op, it will be informative!!! Hugs, Beckie P.S. I got mine at Walden books!

I read that one myself, there's some good recipes in there. Check out the pumpkin custard, like a pumpkin pie without the crust, quite tasty. I found a better book for recipes called Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery, by Patt Levine and Michele Bontempo-Saray, published by Marlowe and Company, ISBN 1-56924-453-7. The recipes seem more slanted to the 8-weeks-plus post-op patient, however. -- Steve

I hate to be a grinch here, but I have a difficult time with some of these books, esp this one. I've "known" Susan Maria for 2 years and she is definetely a good business women, but she is also full of condradictions. She touts this book and then "admits" to eating chocolate and drinking and on and on. She professes to be like the little people but then brags about Island vacations and purchasing expensive "toys" and then puts this stuff out on the boards stirring up all sorts of trouble. She has her followers though for sure. I still like Barbara Thompson who gives and honest inside look at this surgery. I do like Susan's recipes and wish she stuck to that as her theme for this book as she sure can cook. Just my opinion! C
