Ok, so it is going on 2 years (OCT. 16) since i had my surgery.  I had VBG and in the begining it was great, I dropped 50 lbs in aprox 5 months... in the 6th month I had my gallbladder out and it has been down hill since then.  I have gained 20 lbs and it seems all I can eat is cheese or soft foods.  Every protein I eat, turkey, beef, chicken, and pork gives me pain... Is anyone else having problems?

Sorry you are experiencing this difficulty. Do you see your surgeon regularly? Have you discussed this with him or a dietician. That is where I suggest you start.

Hope you can get things figured out and start losing again. I also would journal your food intake  to see how many calories and protien grams, fat grams and carbs you are taking in each day. You may find that you are taking in too much or not enough. Are you exercising?

I know that when I was only able to eat soft foods (due to lapband issues), I gained some weight and definietly was a slower loser. I was told mushies and soft foods have more calories than the regular protein foods (meat, etc.). I ended up seeing the nutritionist again to work through the foods I could eat that were soft and lower in calories.

My band now has a leak so I am going through no restriction until it is removed and another procedure performed (if approved by insurance).

Good Luck!

Call Dr Valin's office and tell them what's going on with all of your issues.  They are there to help you get back on track...it's for your better good.

Hang in there and don't beat yourself up...you'll get to the bottom of this..

Hi,
I had a lap RNY 4 yrs ago tomorrow, but my friend had the same surgery you did.  Her surgery was one yr ago end of this month.  Her story is exactly yours.  When she brought it to Deborah Valin's attn., she just keeps telling her to eat slowly.  She eats so slow now!  Unfortunately, the only items that don't give her problems are things that aren't good, like sweets!

Wish I had an answer for you and my friend.  I would insist on seeing Dr. Valin.  Afterall, he is the doctor.

Good luck.
