Gastric Bypass and hernia repair

Does anyone know if Dr. Valin in New Haven would do a bypass and hernia repair at the same time? On January 29th I had a lap band which didn't work, I ended up getting an infection and having a really difficult time. I now need to have a hernia repaired and I was thinking about taking a second shot at the weight loss surgery. I was told no surgeon would touch me for the lap band because of scarring but that a gastric bypass was possible. I don't think I want to go with my original surgeon but would like to try Dr. Valin since it seems he has the most experience out of all the doctors in CT. A second opinion is in order for my current surgeon (for the hernia repair) since he referred me to a Dr. (for the bypass) that just got certified in June of this year! I don't think I'll rush into anything, thank you... Anyone please!!!

I had both procedures performed at the same time by Dr Valin. He is a very skilled surgeon and I did not experience all that much pain. If you have any questions. feel free to e-mail me. Carmen

Thanks Carmen for your response. After what I been through, I'm not afraid of the pain, I just hope all goes well this time. I don't think my current PCP will approve a second shot, that's the real problem. She's a good Dr. and all but she already told me she wouldn't let me try again... I just have a good feeling about Dr. Valin so for right now, I'll go to the seminar in February and take it from there...

I only had the bypass with Dr. Valin, but I would highly reccomend him to anyone. Him as well as his wife Deb and staff are a great group to deal with. Good luck and let us know what you decide. Hugs, Maggie
