Hi Everybody, Sorry Linda, I took your place for today ! SMILES! I need to vent this... My car have problems... I am not happy but have no choice. They will fix it this Tuesday which will cost me over $700.00 :O( (what a nice Christmas present for me ) It is gasket replacement, coolant flushing and change oil. I am praying it will keep lasting for couple of years before I will get another car. I am so happy for my deary angelette, Lauren M. which her insurance got approved with no problem. you know me ... Worrywart lady!! LOL I was little concerened about her insurance but now I am more relaxed and can be her angel when she will have her surgery date Jan 26th. I will post more things before she will have her surgery. Lauren Just enjoy Christmas and your last holiday foods. Hugs me! I jumped up and down when I weighted this morning since I was on plateau for almost two weeks. Finally I lost 5 pounds. My perosnal trainer told me to build up more minutes of cardio. I was all sweat all over last night with her and she made me sit up for 60( three breaks for 60). Oh boy it is harder when my stomach like an apple size to sit up but I made it! I need tough coach like her or I will make an excuse for excerise Have a nice weekend and see you all on Monday on Ct message board Hugs Kathy K

Hi Kathy, Thanks for doing this........I was going to try this morning but things are so nuts I wasn't sure what I would get to do. I am sorry to hear about your car. It seems like these things happen at the worst times, like the holidays. Sounds like you are doing well, exercising like a maniac and following the plan. Like I emailed you don't worry about not losing for a couple of weeks periodically because that is normal. As long as you are doing what you are supposed to the weight loss will kick in again. Our bodies need some time to adjust to all of this. I want to wish you and your family a very happy and healthy holiday. As for me, well,.........drum roll please I have lost 7 pounds since on this protein train. I say that hesitantly because I don't know what will happen once I start eating more regularly again. However I am going to try and stick to this regime with some modifications. If in fact this weight loss holds that will be -110 pounds for me. Whew. I am glad that the scale is moving once again. I was pretty stagnant since August. I do have some other news. I have a plastic surgery consult on Dec. 21st. I am not ready to do anything yet, probably not until June but I do want to go and see what they have to say. I also need to find some extra work so I can pay for this......, and see if they have payment plans. I am going to Dr. Thomson at Yale. I have met him a few times and like him and the clinic is probably the least expensive option. I would like to get rid of this stomach so I can wear regular pants and not just elastic waists. My legs are pretty small so I am not easy to fit. This week has been crazy and the weekend even more so. I am on my way to Middletown for a training this morning and then to Tweed to pick up my cousin from Ohio, I am having 10 people for Hanukah dinner tonight and then off to water aerobics in the morning, home to get ready for making dinner for 16 people (another Hanukah dinner). I will be frying potato latkes (pancakes****il they are coming out of my ears....... I don't think I will be interested in eating any of them after making so many. Sunday .......I know my cousin wants to do something like maybe the Mohegan Sun before I take her back to the airport and then my sister, mother and I are going to pay a condolence call. Somewhere in there I need to do laundry too. huh. Given all that I may not be on the boards much this weekend but I will check in when I can. Have a great one and keep on smiling....... Linda

Hi Kathy, I hope that your car troubles will be over. Sounds like you are doing really good with your trainer. I haven't really been on the boards since surgery first because of getting school work caught up, then finals and of course that couldn't be enough so I ended up with the flu. Oh, and I can't forget taking care of my 4 kids the whole time doing this. The good news is I have lost a total of 36 pounds. Now that I have some free time I can start catching up on the household. I need to get some remodeling in the days we have left before Christmas. So this weekend I will be cleaning and painting. If I get that all done I will start putting in a new wood floor in one of the bedrooms. I hope everyone has a good weekend. Heidi

Hi Kathy - So sorry to hear about your car. That's a bummer - and unexpected bills around the holidays are always stinky. My little guy is SICK. He was up all night vomiting (so tough when they are so little - you get NO warning when they start to get sick). So, I'll be home with him giving him TLC and doing lots and lots of laundry! We have family stuff do to tomorrow, putting up the tree, and decorating. Sunday we have a Christmas carol sing here in Newington at the Library, then to the Town Hall for a little party for the kids. Hope you guys all have a wonderful weekend. Love, Tammy

Good morning Everyone: I'm hoping to get more Christmas shopping done this weekend. I don't know about everyone else but Christmas is always a difficult time of year for my husband and I financially. It makes the season very stressful. I love all that goes along with it but... I'm always shopping at the last minute trying to use cash and not making the credit cards worse. I have done SO much damage this year with clothes!! The kids at school have been off the wall. Energy! Energy! Energy! It's pretty difficult to get much done between Thanksgiving and Christmas. So I just throw up my hands and go with the flow. I can have fun with the rest of them. Thank God I'm an art and technology teacher and not math or science. I am also excited about getting this new support group off the ground. I am anxious to have that regular dialog going with people. Once a month just wasn't enough for me. If you didn't hear the info is: Where: Thames Valley Campus (Three Rivers Community College) New London Tnpke Campus, Norwich room 101 (back parking lot, maintainence and receiving entrance) When: Wednesday, Dec. 15th at 6:30 We will create a schedule from there. Have a great weekend everyone! Carolyn

Hi Kathy, and Everyone in CT. It's Friday! Finally... Sorry to hear about your car, Kathy. That's alot of money this time of year especially... My weekend plans are not too bad, really. I am done Christmas shopping except for a couple of gift cards. Now, on to the wrapping!! Saturday my 5yr. daughter's school is having Breakfast with Santa, which the three of us are going to. Then, she has her Kid-Safe karate test after that...she has been practicing her butt off, she is just so cute. The rest of the weekend will be spent doing construction in my dining room. We bought a wood stove, and are cutting up the wall to wall carpet, cutting the baseboard radiator, and building a hearth pad with wood and tile. Saturday the stove should be arriving, and then my hubby will be installing it. My husband is a great do-it-yourself-er, but REALLY stinks at the clean-up part of the job. So, I know what I will be doing... I am hoping that the chaos that exists in there will be settled by Christmas. It will be beautiful when it's done. On the WLS front, I may look into getting a personal trainer also, because I have absolutely ZERO motivation to get exercising. My ellipitical machine has a layer of dust on top of the dust!!! I need someone to make me do 60 sit-ups...or get on the machines I have. And, as much as my husband wants to be my personal trainer, that just doesn't work for me...I may kill him... Have a great weekend everyone! Anne

Hi Kathy & all -- So bummed to hear about your car. I went through over a year of expensive car repairs, then broke down & got a new car this fall. I love it! It's a Pontiac Vibe, and I highly recommend it. Hope you don't need one for awhile though!!! Linda, 7 lbs. on the protein train -- that's amazing!! I'm trying to do it. Yesterday I did fine until about 10:00 at night, when I ate cereal. Today I'm trying to stay on the train, but I have John's family's big annual Christmas party tonight. I'll try to stick with the protein. I need to drop. I gotta fit into a wedding dress. What I wouldn't give to have smaller boobs & a slimmer stomach, but I think the wedding is going to take precedence. Hope all sick people/kiddies are on their way to recovery. It seems to be a bad week for viruses. I'm hoping they stay away from me!! So, I have the 2+ hour drive to NJ today (pray for good traffic), then back tomorrow, and we're going to go get our Christmas tree, etc. tomorrow. Sunday is CLEANING, and then going out with a good friend who lost her dad a couple of weeks ago, and her business is dissolving due to internal strife, so she's a bit of a mess. We've all been through those times, I can empathize. Hope everyone has a great weekend. Linda, send some of those latkes my way (I'll hop off the protein for a good potato latke!!). XO Kathy F.

Hi Everyone Sorry to hear about your car Kathy - that always seems to be how things work out -- extra bills when you are already spread thin financially. I'll be praying for you. My family has all been sick - I had laryngitis this week and a sinus infection, and both boys have had a sinus infection as well. Now, Alexander is sick AGAIN just a few days after finishing his antibiotic! The "protein train" seems to be working for me. I'll report on my official loss on Monday, but the scale has moved -- and this time, in the right direction. I have to admit it, I gained a few pounds - it was very discouraging, and was the last thing I wanted to do. But, after a very, very long plateau, I lost my motivation, and got back into some terrible old habits . Thank God for my dear friends Cheryl and Linda - Cheryl suggested the "protein train" and Linda agreed to do it with me for mutual support - she's been on a long plateau as well (but I don't think she gained weight). I'm pretty sure I'm back to my lowest weight, and this is working, so I'm going to continue with it with some modifications. Its really hard to "drink" my protein -- so now I'm eating it, and that helps alot. We'll be busy this weekend - we are in the process of putting up the Christmas tree, and Nicholas has a birthday party tomorrow morning. Of course, church and naps on Sunday Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. God Bless, Kathy Bilodeau

Hi Everybody! Linda and Kathy, it was my deepest pleasure to try and help two wonderful ladies as yourselves. I did remember one other thing I used a lot for a filling drink that was good for me and that's V-8. The funny thing about that is I never liked the stuff pre op but post op it hit the spot and gave me a full feeling. The other thing I've heard is to drink a glass of icey icey water 15 min before eating and you will fill faster. I've never tried that one but heard it works. I am feeling better today. I went back to Dr. Reinholds yesterday and saw one of his partners. Dr. Yoeda I think? Anyway, he was so nice and did a throughout exam and said I was under medicated. I had tried to cut back but I guess too soon. So I am back up on the meds and feeling better already. I am trying to eat as my scale is down to 135 way too thin for my 5'8" frame. Can anyone tell me what they do for calcium? I find I have such a hard time with it as I know we are supposed to have Calcium citrate but the pills are so huge I have a hard time making myself take them regulary. Any suggestions are welcome! My weekend is still resting, I have one more week to go and I want to be sure I am ready to go back to work. UConn's Support group Holiday Party is Monday night, I hope to see many of you there. I know I'll see Phyllis, and Evelyn and I hope Mae! love to all, Cheryl

Hi Kathy, Sorry to hear about your car. Don't you just hate to send that kind of money and feel like you haven't gotten anything new out of it. Car 3 expenses are the worst. We just had a whopper of a day yesterday with my husbands car. He was driving it and the power steering went. When he brought it in for repair yesterday, we were hoping for an inexpensive fix since it had over 1700 worth of work done to it this year. It is an older Mitsubishi Diamante. Well we were shocked to find out that it the steering rack went which was over 1000 to fix but to get to it the whole exhaust system needed to be removed but was rotted out which was another 2000 and the water pump was going and it needed a new timing belt. The last two we did know about though. All in all it would have been over 4000 and would still need new brakes and who knows what else in less than a year. We knew the day would come when we needed to replace it but I kept hoping that it would be in the future. It turns out today is the day! Or at least as soon as we find something else. What kind of car do you have? We are looking into a used Honda Accord I think. It is so hard to know when is the right time to cut your losses and get that new car. Try to enjoy your weekend and good for you doing all that excersize!!! It will pay off. Heather
