Traveling after surgery
I'd check with your surgeon first, but honestly, I'm 3 weeks out, and I feel like I could travel. Just make sure you have access to lots of bottled water and protein drinks.
This is just my humble opinion, everyone heals differently and has different issues with food post op.
Good luck!!! What a gift! Can I come too??? ha ha.

I asked Dr Bell and he had no problem with me going on a cruise 5 weeks out. You just have to ask a lot of questions about how the food is prepared before you eat it and go my the list that you will get after your 2 week checkup. I had some things that didn't agree with me on the cruise but for the most part I felt fine the whole trip. So have a good time and soak up the sun.

I went to Albany and moved my youngest daughter 2 weeks after surgery. Drove, unloaded the truck (some), hooked her computer back up, and drove home... in the same day.
Next day Joanne and I left to go to Philadelphia to a candy show, followed by Atlantic City.
5 weeks after surgery, we flew to Orlando for a week, Even went to Disney world. I loaded and unloaded the luggage myself. No problem with any of it.
You should be fine.

Do speak with your surgeon. But, barring any complications, I see no reason that you should not be able to go and have a great time!
Just remember- you're a little 'high maintenence'...so you're going to need to carry around a WLS goodie bag while you're traveling and through he vacation. Things like bottled water, so you can track your fluid intake and protein powder will be imperative to have with you at all time. Not sure where you'll be in the deit stage, but some foods will be good to carry too.
Don't worry about all that now- just concnetrate on YAY! You're going to the Bahamas!!!
What a nice thing for you to do for your mom!
best,
Lisa
