Hi Lauren, Stock up on water. I also used baby spoons and sippy cups the first couple of weeks. These were very helpful for me. Sugar free Jello and popsicles as well. I wouldn't stock up to much on shakes as your taste buds do change a bit after surgery. Good luck, Maggie

the trick will be in variety and not having too much of any one thing. You just never know what's going to taste yucky. SF pudding, variety of flavors protein powders , variety of flavors Crystal lite herbal teas (get some mint tea for upset stomach too) perhaps instant decaf coffee if you like it brothy soups (I never used bullion, since I thought it tasted gross, I used soup broth and strained out the stuff creamy soups low carb yogurt in a variety of flavors that's all I can think of right now... You won't need anywhere near the quantity of things you would think, so buy sparingly and then have someone go to the store for what you want after a week or so. I'm so excited for you that your date is coming!!!

Lauren, seeing you have Dr. Bell, when you go for your preop, Linda will give you a list of all the things you can have for the first two weeks. I also believe we got this list at the meeting in October. Out list included broth(must be fat free and salt free), sugar free ice pops, crystal light, decaf tea and coffee, and of course our ensure(or similiar protein shake). We must have 6 ounces per day. When you go back for your two week appointment, Linda will go over what you can have after that. I made sure i have ice pops, crystal light and broth.. im not a coffee or tea drinker. Good Luck Deanna ps...are you going to the meeting tonite??

About the meeting, I cant go tonight. My heart is broken. I was sooooooooooooo looking forward to this meeting tonight. I waited all month for it. Had it on the calendar. It was MY NIGHT. but I cant go now. I had posted a week or so ago that I had to cancel my scrapbook thing because I was having marital problems. we are now going for counseling on tuesday nights. So now I cant go. By the time I got there it would be over. As for the things to eat, I bought can broth, but I didnt look to see if it was fat free and low salt. I will have to get more. and I didnt know if the protein shakes had sugar or not so I didnt buy any. I was afraid to. I wanted to know what everyone found the best tasting in those. I hate protein shakes as it is. I could probably tolerate carnation instant breakfast. is that one of the ones we can have? I wanted to be careful I bought the correct drinks. I will pull out the stuff they gave me at that visit. I have kept everything related to this surgery so I have the list. I will check it again. thanks. L

Lauren, I lived on lfls chicken broth, vegetable broth ( swanson makes it) fruit 2 0, and fruit2o ICE was a life saver( it tastes like Dells lemon ice) sf popsicles, chocolate boost, and butter pecan ensure. Some people like tea, I just liked the warm broths . God Bless Robin

Two non-food items I HIGHLY recommend are Baby Wipes and a set of tongs. I got this idea from another list and I was SO HAPPY that I had these items on hand. I just recommended this to my friend who had the surgery last week. She told me yesterday that she is very glad she bought them. You may have trouble wiping yourself after the surgery...reaching around far enough can be very painful. You take the wipe, wrap it around the tongs and use the tongs to reach around behind...get it? Good luck! We'll all be thinking of you and sending positive thoughts your way! Ann 85lbs GONE!
