Yeah but it won't be as tough as you think.  Oh, don't get me wrong - things will change and many aspects will be tough but it will sort of feel natural to want to change after having had the surgery.  Good luck.

Thank you, Scott, for these kind words of encouragement. As I mention to Kathy below, I am counting on the band to help me handle the rough spots. I'm relieved that after the operation and when the band is in place, my sensations re. hunger will be different than what they are now.  Take care and all the best.

Ya know I was on a 1200 cal diet preop and thought I was gonna starve or kill someone. It was gonna be the MIL or the hubby that was gonna die. Now I don't even eat that much and I am fine. I only get the urge to kill one of them when the meds are low in my system or when I have PMS. LOL Don't worry about being able to do it after if you can't do it now. It's totally different after the fact.

I shall now be know as Hagatha: Queen of the queens.

Thanks Kathy -- this is definitely one piece of advice I am going to commit to memory. I am counting on the lap band to prevent me from getting those hellacious hunger pangs and I hope it prevents the headaches. Maybe the headaches taper off over time. Thank you so much for your insights and kind words.

Hi and welcome! I, too, have heard very good things about Dr. Tischler. In fact, I was going to go to him, but I'm 65 and have medicare and they require you to go to a "Center of Excellence)--unfortunately, Hartford Hospital did not have that designation. I know they're in the process and don't know if they've received it yet. I just had my first fill and did not get that "sweet spot" restriction so I can eat pretty much anything right now. (I'll be going back for an adjustment as soon as possible) However, I have to say that I was a volume eater and even without restriction I cannot eat anywhere near what I did before. Good luck! Hi, LakeLady -- Thanks for taking the time to respond. I've been trying to read just about everything I can get my hands on. I am trying to "imagine" what it will be like to have the band. Like  you, I can eat (and too often do) a larage amount of food and I know that with the band that needs to stop. I sense that finding that sweet spot is tricky and I hope I will be up to recognizing the feel. Take care and all the best.

Dr. Tishler is awesome!!! I highly recommend him.  I had the RNY almost 2 years ago with him.  They office is great and he has a great after care program.

Thank you for your comments re. Dr. Tischler. Yes, I have good "vibes" too but I really appreciate hearing from people who have some history with the practice. I've gone to one of the support groups and will go to a second one in July. I'll try to go to as many as I can before committing to surgery. Thanks again for taking the time to comment.
