I need help ASAP. Yesterday I tried to move my bowels and a small piece came out and ever since then I can feel another one but it will not come out. It feels sharp and I tried to pu**** out to no avail. I went to the store and bought Milk of Magnesia but it did not help and I been drinking water and warm liquids and also walking. I thought it would come out this morning but it did not. I would ask the doctor but they are not in yet. What can I do is something wrong or should I just wait it out. I do not know if it would be classified as constipation because it is right there but refusing to budge. PLEASE HELP Toya

Sounds to me like you are a little constipated. Keep pumping those liquids and call the Dr as soon as they get there. Try not to strain too much in getting it out as this won't be good for you newly post op. Good Luck. I've been there and I know it's not fun. Maggie

Hi, I have IBS and have struggled with all manner of poop problems including the one you describe...what works for me when all else fails is...I go and get a Fleets mineral oil enema...and use it...it softens up whatever is up there...I am careful to assume correct positioning....after that..I follow it with a plain Fleets enema....the good ole one/two punch! I think folks tend to avoid enemas at all costs...but it is actually easier and faster...and cheaper..than many other methods and does not tend to cause dependence or build tolerances like steady doses of laxative will do. I hope this helps and you don't have to resort to the rubber gloved roto-rooter routine... Sher'

Fleet also has a drink, called Fleet Phospho Soda, you drink alittle 1-2 hours later and whooosh!!! problem solved... I also had constipation newly pre-op, and I needed more water, and I was taking too much calcium. good luck! Anne

Lois called me back while I was in the midst of having the most painful BM in the world. I swear it was worse than the surgery. Well she said for future problems I can use Ducolax suppositories(sp) or an enema. Milk of Magnesia or prune juice and lots of liquids. Well this morning how I made myself go is I woke up had some Ducolax MOM and then drank a bit of the diet hot cocoa and an hour later I tried warm water and then went to lay down. I think the warm water did it and I was soon in the bathroom. Hope this helps, I would not wish this on my worst enemy.

Hi Toy, Glad to hear your really not full of it anymore. Just as an FYI, I was 15 days post op when I got the first rumbling and all hell broke lose after that. It's really weird not to poop for weeks! Somethings bound to get backed up. Enough, glad your feeling better!!
