Hi everyone in CT!

I am new here and I thought I would introduce myself...

I am from Milford and I decided to have the lap band procedure.  My first appointment is on July 3rd with a surgeon at Fairfield Bariatrics.  I already went to the seminar.  I have Oxford Freedom Plan insurance and it was already verified that I have coverage.  Is anyone from my area?  And if you had the lap band procedure done, can you tell me when and what has your experience been and did you have Oxford insurance?   Just curious..

I hope everyone is well and I am going to read some posts now.

Thank you,

Katie

Hi Katie, Welcome to the CT board. I had the lapband in May at New Britain and everything went very smoothly. I'm scheduled to get my first fill in a few days so I'm looking forward to getting this thing operational! Best of luck as you begin your journey!!

I LOVE MY LAPBAND.. I had it put in and 2 hernias taken out on 4/30/07...The best and greatest thing I ever did for myself.  I have lost 84 lbs as of now the greatest part is I have never gained any back  that is wonderful because I always lost weight but 3 months later I would gain it and more back. I had my surgery by Dr. Tishler in Hartford Hospital and he had done my fills..I have had 5 fills and 1 unfill because of not losing for awhile so that gave me a boost...the fills do not hurt at all and just remember to sip, sip, sip  water...good luck

Hi Katie, My experience has been the same as Joanne - the best thing I ever did for myself.  I lost 26 lbs before my surgery and 62 lbs. since my surgery for a total of 88 lbs in just over a year.  My health has improved so much.  You will love the freedom you have without your body wearing you down and your size limiting where you fit. I don't have your insurance and my surgery was in Middletown at Middlesex Hospital but I just wanted to say HI! Good Luck your on your way. Bev

Thank you for the warm welcome and wishes!

I didn't want to blow up the board but wanted to reply to your kind posts...

Hi to Lakelady! Thank you so much for your welcome and best wishes on your fill.  Let us know how it goes.  I know you will do great :)

Joanne...congratulations on your weight loss and two hernia??!!  You must be one very strong person!!  I am very impressed :)  Keep up the great work, you must feel great.  Thank you for the advice...I will remember to sip the water.  You are truly and inspiration!

You go Bev!!  88 pounds make a big difference and I am sure looking forward to not wearing out so quick.  It is a burdon being as big as I am.  You are doing a great job for yourself :) and I hope you stay on track.  I know how hard it can be!  Thank you for your good luck wishes...I will need them, especially getting through the approval process.  I am hoping for smooth sailing!

Diane, you are so right, we are in the same boat...we are all fighting the fight to be in better health.  I noticed you have been losing a lot too!  Great job, my wishes are coming right back at ya!! Congratulations on the weight loss you have had so far and in no time you will reach your goal!

I hope this post right...I'm a rookie at message boards :)

Thanks again,

Katie
