LapBand Suggested
Hi Sharon
I had lapband surgery 2 months ago with Dr. Aranow. My insurance
(connicare) paid for the surgery. This is a big issure and many insurance
companies will not cover either surgery. First step is to check what
your particular medical insurance covers.
As far as lap band vs gastric bypass there are pros and cons to each
surgery. I did a lot of on-line research....asked a lot of questions on
different boards...and read about bariatric surgery.
there is a separate board in this website just for people who have had
lap band surgery...you can find out the answer to just about any question there.
If you have any specific questions feel free to e-mail me
good luck

Hi,
I had my first meeting with Dr. Aranow on Nov. 1st, and he also told me that I am a good candidate for the lap band. I have done research and am still not sure which type of surgery would be best for me. My insurance will cover either type of procedure. It would almost be easier if they did not cover lap band,so the choice would be made for me.I too would be interested in hearing from any other Dr. Aranow patients who were given the choice of surgery types, and how the ultimate decision was made as to which to have.

I was banded three months ago by Dr. Aranow. I am SO happy with my band. It truly is a miracle. I have lost 47 lbs and feel so much healthier. It can be a little discouraging sometimes when you see RNY'ers that had their surgery around the same and they have lost like twice the weight you have but it's not a race, right?
I am starting to appreciate the slow weight loss so my mind can keep up with my body. There are pros and cons to each form of WLS. If you have any questions I would be more than happy to answer them.
