I had my tummy tuck on 5/23 and all went well until I ended up with a $%&* staph infection.  Anyone else have this problem?  If so, how long did it take to clear up? Thanks. JA

I have not had that happen but I just wanted to ask you is the infection in your incision site? Unfortunately these things can happen. Be sure you complete all the antibiotics as ordered and be sure you are eating healthy to help yourself heal.

Hope things improve quickly.

Let us know how you make out.

Hi Sher Thanks so much.  I ended up back in the hospital, they did another incision and inserted a wound vac, just got home today and hopefully I'm on the mend.  I was on several antibiotics, just ended up picking up a staph infection at the hospital I'm sure. JA

Hi Kathy, Right now my tummy looks like a bad road, but hopefully when all is said and done, it will be better.  Unfortunately, I picked up a staph infect. at the hospital...these things happen, but my plastic surgeon, Dr. Fusi, is fabulous and was ontop of it from the start.  Just got home today and happy to be here! I'll check out your profile, I'm anxious to see what's happened w/you. xo Janis

Hi Janis~congratulations on the TT!!  I am so sorry you left the hospital with a staph infection!!  I haven't had a TT, but I did have a staph infection when I left the hospital after having my son and having a tubaligation....I ended up in the hospital for 5 days, then I had to go home and do my own IV antibiotic therapy 3 times a day for 6 days...it WAS pretty scary, but I got through it....take care of yourself and make sure you get plenty of rest!!  Good luck girlie!!

Thanks so much.  I swear I have so many IV marks in my arms I look like a drug addict!  Only good thing about all of this is I'm a smaller person since all of this, finally broke my lowest weight; so maybe it was worth it! Thanks for all your good wishes.  My best bud is flying in from CA tomorrow to make sure I stay put! JA

My surgeon is Dr. Stefano Fusi, who is an awesome plastic surgeon .  check out his website drfusi.com  Insurance DOES NOT pay for this unless you've lost over 100 lbs and have a trail of paperwork regarding rashes etc.  So I paid out of pocket. I lost 9 lbs the day of the surgery (of skin).  Since then I've lost anothe 15.  So the good part is it jump starts the weight loss again (well for me anyway).  I'm hoping to finally reach my goal.  I never would have been able to do the appropriate exercise with all that skin in the way, and now (after I finally heal), I will be able to. My lap RNY was totally painless, so I have to say that the TT really was not painful.  However, the infection did cause discomfort more than pain.  You feel like your tummy is being pulled downward and it has a heavy weight in it.  All in all, I'd do it again, but it's not an easy surgery.  You really need to be prepared for it. And I will tell you this is my one and only plastic surgery.  I had it done because of rashes and infections , other than that, I wouldn't have done it. Check out Dr. Fusi, he is a great surgeon and I would HIGHLY recommend him.  Everyone who asked me in the hospital who did my surgery, said, O'my GOD he's the best there is, and he's a kind gentle man, who is NOT full of himself, like most plastic guys. Good luck. JA
