Depo Shot?
I started doing the atkins four weeks ago, and only lost 9 pounds. Usaually when I do the atkins in four weeks I would lose about 15 - 18 pounds. I have been really good except for two days and jumped back in. I am just wondering if the depo shot would slow down me losing weight. I am getting surgery on the 3rd of January and also I am due for the depo that week also. I am wondering if I should continue to use it or do something else. I really don't want to get surgery and not be able to lose weight. Last time when I got on the atkins I lost about 40 pounds, and of course gained it back. I just wanted to lose 20 pounds before surgery just to get a jump start. Let me know what my expert board friends think?
There can be a little weight gain with the Depo but I think that is with any birth control. I am on depo and was banded three months and have lost 46 lbs so it hasn't stopped my weight loss at all. If you like the Depo stay on it. It's not estrogen based so it's actually safer than say the pill when it comes to things like blood clots after surgery. I think some doctors actually make their patients on the pill stop taking it before surgery. Check with your doctor to see what he reccommends.
