Hello everyone!
Hi, Donna!
Welcome to the CT board! The Hamden support group isn't affiliated with any particular surgeon. It's run by a couple of post-ops and meets at the senior center (behind the Miller Library) on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of each month. It starts at 6:30 p.m. and runs till about 8. Usually some of us will go out for a bite afterward. The next meeting is Dec. 6th. Attendance at the 2 meetings I've been to so far runs about 15-30 people, mostly post-ops. It's low-key and everyone's very nice. Joanie M. lives in North Haven and I live in Hamden, so although we're both patients of Dr. Aranow in Middletown, this meeting is more convenient for us. I alternate between Hamden and Middletown because their meetings are also on Mondays. The 1st Monday of the month in Middletown is for pre-ops only (basic psych. and nutritional info.), so even though I'm still a pre-op, once at one of those is enough. So on the 1st Monday, we tend to get a few extra Dr. A patients. The 1st time we attended a Hamden meeting was Nov. 1st and I was the 1st one of our group to arrive. There were about 16 of their regular attendees there and I said that I was expecting a few friends to join me. They were very welcoming and quite surprised when a total of 8 of us from this board were there! I hope you'll join us on the 6th.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Debby
