I am glad I live in CT!!

We have such a great group of people here and I really enjoy the get togethers. Peter, You really cracked me up but I didn't know who you were at first... You need to put up a pic. Thanks for those who took and shared pictures with us. Linda you look fabulous! I know you are on a plateu but I think that things must still be changing because you look smaller every time I see you. Kathy K, you were definatly beaming yesterday and you always have a friendly word for everyone. You have the right attitude to acheive much success with this tool. If you looked around the room yesterday, you would have never known what kind of group we are. With pre-ops and Post-ops we look like average America but we seem to be shrinking every time we have a gathering and more and more of us are joining the "other side" I know a lot of people said that one positive thing they did not expect to happen after WLS was to gain a great group of friends. This is so true for me. I had not even thought about any support post-op and now I find that I really look forward to the support groups and gatherings to keep me mindfull of this tool but also to socialize with such open and caring people that I have come to know through this surgery. Okay, I will stop babbling now but I just want you all to know that I feel lucky to have met you!!!! Let's start planning the next one! Do we want to do it in 3 months or wait till later in spring??? I will help with preparations as long as it is not the last week of Feb or in early March. HeatherS

Hi Heather I am soooo glad that you live in CT too!!!! It really was fun yesterday and it is good to take a moment to reflect on where we are today and from where we came. We sure have lucked out by living in a state where folks truly care about each other and lend there support unconditionally. It is amazing that we do manage to rise above the petty stuff and remember what is really important. Yesterday was great and I know there will be more events like this one. Our numbers get larger as the size of the participants gets smaller. Its good to have a diverse mix of pre and post ops and all the stages in between. While I was on vacation I got a rude awakening to some attitudes of friends that I thought were supportive and while they are supportive of me and another friend *****cently had surgery, they seem to see us differently than other obese people, I guess because they have long since gotten past the outside persona. I don't know if that makes sense but I found that I was getting angry about things that were said about obese people but not said to me in the past. Made me take a long hard look. Anyway I think Kathy K is right we need to have a BABY shower!!!! Take care and I will see you soon. Linda

What a pleasure it was to meet you yesterday! What an inspiration too! I hope to have children in the future and that was a big decision in me having the surgery. I am still nervous about having a baby after surgery and probably will be until it happens, but you are so calm and make it look so easy. You looked fabulous!! Congratulations!!! Phyllis

Hi Heather, It was so great to see you again! And I, too, am glad I live in CT with this terrific bunch of "new" friends that I acquired! It's a bonus that comes with the surgery I guess This tool that we have been given is more than a blessing, and I thank God each day for Dr. Bell and his expertise. AND YES WE NEED A BABY SHOWER! I love buying baby gifts!!! JA

Awww..... you guys are so sweet!!!! I am very touched There is no need for baby gifts but I would love to have another get together before next spring, it just seems so far off. Winter is so long around here and not all of us get to jet off to some warm paradise Hehe... Phyllis, Keep fighting for the surgery!!! I knew I wanted to have another child and I asked my Ob/GYN if I should do it before or after the surgery and he said definatly after because it would make it much easier on my body. He was right!!! This pregnancy so far has been a breeze compared to pre-op. I almost don't feel like I am pregnant except for the belly thing. I can walk up stairs without getting out of breath (so far) and I couldn't even do that not being pregnant before. The other nice thing is I have no stretching of the skin so far I had better enjoy my tight abs. while I have them because I don't even want to think of what they are going to look like after and the money won't be there for plastics for awhile. Kathy K, I think you are right... I am pretty sure it's a girl but I am getting just as excited about seeing pink, especially after hearing Pyllis's mom talk!!! Heather, it was so nice to meet you! You look sooo much younger and more beautiful in person - as with EVERYONE I met at the get-together! I am with the other ladies - baby shower!! It doesn't really matter if you say no, it's a great excuse to get together!! Plus - I adore babies - oh but wait, then I might want another one. Hrmm, maybe I should stay far far away?!?!
