I'm home from the hospital

I'm home. When in Tuesday and was released on Friday. It went well. This surgery is not to be taken lightly by anyone. This can be a real emotional roller coaster. I'm in bed, obviously in pain, and all that is on TV is food, food, food, and you realize the commitment you've made and ramifications of your actions. I updated my profile with details if anyone's interested. Gald to be home and post op, and looking forward to the future. Meanwhile none of my pants fit, I'm so full of air from the procedure. Sorta funny, you go in for a gastric bypass and come home rounder that when you left. Better days to come.

Welcome home Paula. What you're feeling is quite normal. I had a hard time watching TV the first few days being home because I swear the TV genius' knew I had surgery and decided to put food commercial after food commercial on. I to questioned what I had done. Six months later, I'm happy to say I would do it all again tomorrow. Yes I can still remember what those first two weeks were like and I'd still do it. Every day will get better and easier. Good luck and keep us posted please. Maggie

I agree. So many people that know 0 about this surgery think it's the "easy way out". WRONG! Nothing "easy" about it! But, it does get easier to deal with not eating. I know it's extremely difficult in the beginning, but you can do it! I wish you all the best! Christine-109

Welcome Home Paula, Yes there are definitely better days to come but there will be ups and downs. Make sure you walk as much as you can especially in the beginning. You need to get rid of the gas and get that blood circulating. I do know that the commercials and even the smell of food are very annoying but this too shall pass. Nothing feels as good as thin is your new montra Linda

Paula, I am glad to hear you are home! You will be able to rest much better! The first few weeks are hardest to deal with the "loss" of food. Everyday does get better, although there will be days for a while where you question your decision! It was worth it and soon you will see the results! Carmen

Hi Paula! Welcome home! I got home yesterday as well! Your post is completley true (misspellings due to meds!). It is not to be taken lightly. But if you are prepared, it's going to be life altering! All in a good way! Yeah, I know what you mean about food commercials. I just rented some movies - no commercials - I'll try and watch them pieces at a time. Good luck in a fast recovery! Tammy

Hi, Tammy! Welcome home! I'm sure your kids are glad to have you home, and of course your DH is, too. It was nice meeting him and the girls at the hospital. Your picture here looks good, but you'll probably be replacing it with one of the newer, smaller you before you know it. Hugs, Debby
