Home from the Hospital
Thanks for the reminder Peter! I guess since I went to the same hospital I had the surgery at, they would have at least SOME idea of how to treat me. Maybe I should write a book "The Gastric Bypass Patients Care Guide" or something like that. That way we can bring along something to tell people the basic things about out care!
The origional Dr and nurse I had were GREAT! They were farmiliar with the procedure and took great care and were concerned. After that, it was all downhill. The night shift and even the morning people were CLUELESS!
Dr Valin did discuss the cat scan with me before I went home. There is no blockage (WHEW!) and he believes it may have been a twist that caused irritation, but untwisted on it's own. He gave me the option of being admitted and basically just being observed or going home and coming back if things got worse or didn't get better.
He did the labs a couple times and everything was normal, no signs of infection so I opted to go home. At least I got a good nights rest which is impossible in the hospital!

Sandy,
I hope your scrapbook party went well. I knew when I got up I needed to take it easy, but did not expect to go to the hospital.
Having pain is very scary. Especially because it started in the pouch area, I didn't want to take any chances!
I did get a good nights rest, so if nothing else, that helped!

Well put Tammy! I am glad it is Monday. I am actually going to call the office today, just to see if I should be on a special diet. They sent me clear liquids in the hospital, so I have been sticking with liquids just in case.
I can't believe your surgery is tomorrow. I am so excited for you!!

Carmen,
I hope you feel better!!!!! I think hospitals should really train their staff! I had something almost the same happen when I had to get my gallbaddler check. The nurse told me to drink water, well she came back after giving a cup (20oz) of water. She asked why didn't you drink it all, I told her "remember I had WLS and i can't drink that all in 15 mins" she rolled her eyes. I then asked her if she had any "PROBLEMS".
I was so angry!!!!!!
I hope you day is great and take care of yourself!!!

I just love the way these people think they know morw about our bodies than we do! After I drank about 4-5oz of that yuck, despite what the evil nurse said, the tech doing the cat scan was surprised I drank that muck. She only expected about an ounce! As you can tell, she actually knew something about WLS patients!
Carmen
Hey Carmen!
Sorry to hear about your trouble and ANGRY right with you over your treatment in the ED...That kind of stuff just makes me FURIOUS!!! It is a tired burnt out nurse just trying to patronize...GRRRRRRRRRR...I have seen that stuff before...infuriating and scary!
Glad you got home in one piece and I sure hope your pain gets better and the problem resolves itself.
Hugs,
Sher'
