As a family, we got the Nintendo Wii gaming system last CHristmas.  We enjoy all kinds of games on there..

About a week ago, a new game came out called "WiiFit"

It's a total body workout plan to help you get into shape, tone, relax, improve balance, calculates your weight and BMI and stores it, helps you to set weightloss goals, etc.

It's hard to come by in the stores right now, but, I happened last Friday to be in Target and they had a bunch, so, I bought one...Funny thing is, hubby came home with one that same day too!  Had to return one...

I've only done it one time so far, cause my 10 year old daughter hogs it all day long.  She's a bit "chubby in the stomach area" and is really working on getting it down.  She's also a natural athlete and does lots of sports.  She LOVES this game, and I'm hoping that I will love it too, when I get a chance to use it.

You stand on a platform (almost like a bathroom scale) and you do the exercises on there...THere's step aerobics, balance board, ski jumping, kitting soccer balls with your head, hoola hoop twisting, and MORE.  Some of them you don't use the board and just hold the Wii remote in your hand (like when you're taking the brisk walk or jog).

Just wanted to share this new and fun game.  It's 89 bucks and I think well worth it.

Hi Paula, I was wondering how that worked.  That's good to hear.  My son has the Wii and I know when he does the other games like bowling and tennis he gets a work out so this will be really good for him and me. Thanks for the heads up. Koukla

I can imagine how much of a workout you could get with it. I broke a sweat with the boxing. Love the bowling. Too bad we don't have one, it's the nephews.

I shall now be know as Hagatha: Queen of the queens.

Paula, I'm so glad you posted this.  I have been dying to get WiiFit since I first saw it advertise and I was wondering what actual users thought of it.  My kids are Wii addicts and I thought this would be fun for them as well as me.  Thanks again for the info!  Laurie

You're welcome...the Windsor Target on Kennedy Rd had it..that's where I got it...hubby bought one the same day at the ENfield Target... Call before you go, it's a HOT item.  I was waiting a week for them to get them in, sold out the first day they came out.  I happened to stumble on it the day I was in there. paula

Gamespot usually has them too. Has it asked you if you ate dinner yet???  The interaction is kind of funny.  Once everyone using it sets up their people, it will even remind you of other's birthdays!!

No, It hasn't asked me yet...but, the day we got it, was my son's bday and it gave him a pointed hat and balloons!  Saying, "Looks like this is a special day for you!"  And, the calendar already has a mark for next Friday, which is my daughter's bday.  Too funny.. My son is eight, and he cheats at the walking one.  He just sits down and shakes the wii remote up and down, making it think he's really walking!  Then he does it really fast and passes out his guide and then takes a nose dive and hits the pavement! I'm NOT good at the ski jump.  I couldn't get the hang of it, but I finally got it one time only. There's a lot to be had with this one, that's for sure.

The wii fit is great!! I waited for it in line at Target the day it came out, and you're right, it is well worth it!  Some of the Yoga poses are hard but trying them can be funny . I love the advanced Hula..my top score is 802 spins and no one in the house has been able to beat my score. It is a serious workout. Advanced Stepping is great and then you can earn enough credits to get the free step...basically you could turn the channel , watch tv, and hear yourself step through the wii remote, The goal is 800 steps and let me tell you I was beat.  So if your kids or you have the wii, This new Wii Fit is a great addition to your system .
