As long as we don't have to let the cat out of the bag. Tara, ther eis really nothing that you can do to stop the hair loss. Some have it woerse than others and can last longer, but it is as it comes. People on other bb have talked about affing biotin to their diet, but the few that I persoanlly know did not appear to have much success with it. Although, it could have been much worse if they did not take it. Ya never know. All I can tell you is that I see LOTS of women post-op chop of their locks and go with a butch. DEFINITLY NOT MY CHOICE!!!!!!! Peter

I think when a woman gets to this point, she feels there is nothing to do but to cut the hair. I've had short butch-like hair 3 times in my life. All when I got pregnant. I wasn't a fan of the short hair because I was heavy .. but I dunno how I would feel about it now. I've also heard that Biotin is worth a shot, but I have heard that it is touch and go - sometimes not too successful .. Thanks Peter!! Tara

Tara, I am 11 months post op and had no hair loss at all. I'll share with you what I think helped me keep my hair. I drink two cups of Rocomojo each day. I start my day with it and it has 26 grams of protein. Its not so great just straight so I found a way to jazz it up. I add 3 teaspoons of Cafe D'Vita mocha cappucino, which has only 60 calories, 10g carb and 7g sugar. It makes it a nice chocolaty coffee drink and its caffeine free also. It also fills me up until lunch time with the protein in it. Good Luck Deb -95lbs 11 months post op

What the heck is Rocomojo? LOL The end result of a chocolate/coffee drink makes me smile! Plus, I KNOWWW I need the protein. I still have all this isopure here that I am going to have to find a way to drink. Maybe some whiskey will make it taste better? Awesome tip Deb - I am going to copy and paste that for my diet recipe book. Thanks so much!

Tara, I cut all my hair off 6 weeks ago. Like you it was my security, as I was loosing weight it was loosing my hair. It look awful and then it just kept getting shorter and shorter. I went to my hair dresser and said "cut if off all off, like Maria from the Apprentice. So he did it and it looks great!! It was the best thing that I did (well having WLS was the first best thing) My hair feels and looks thicker. Alos I have guys telling me that it looks sexy..........SEXY!!!!!!!!!! I freaked when I heard those words.............SEXY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe you should go online and find a hair program that lets you download your photo and you can put different hairstyles. That may help you in choosing a hairstyle! Good luck!!!!! Carmen

Oh Carmen, you just made me feel so much better. This is what I am facing. I know I will keep going shorter and shorter until I just snap and say "cut it all off"!! People always compliment my hair, so this is really difficult for me. Thank you Carmen. I feel better! Tara

Hey Tara, I am still preop, but I have long hair that reaches to the bottom of my back..and I definitely have hidden behind my hair...I SO empathize with you! I am even thinking of just biting the bullet and lopping it all off ahead of time...I have always gone with layers to perk up styling..I have not had short hair since '98..but I am going to ask them to feather it back... I wonder what a light body wave might do for ya? It always added tons of volume to my hair. Good luck with it and best of wishes! Sher'

I almost cried reading this!! I almost have NO hair left. I didn't think I really cared b/c d@mn, I had so much freaking hair before surgery. While in Texas, my mom was pointing out "bald spots". My hair has always been thick, full and I just had plenty of it. I seriously hope my surgeon is right and it stops by the end of the year. I'll update my pic with my new wig.. or shaved head.. soon.. b/c it's going to come to one or another. I've been told that it's a good thing, in an ironic kind of way.. b/c I am losing quickly. It just freaks me out. I never realized how losing it might affect me. I'm sure that anything you pick out will be cute Tara! The new do can only be good for ya. We must see lots of pics too!! Take care, Michelle

I want my hair exactly like yours in this picture!!! It looks so good on you. I have no idea how it would look on me, but aye, I need to do something. Michelle, we are hand n hand here. I keep saying I will just shave my effing head like Sinead O'Connor and I don't care! Or, go way way short, spike it and dye it a bright blue. I am sitting here (I kid you not) eating some peanuts for protein and sunflower seeds for thiamin. I am becoming obsessed. I suck! I think losing the weight so fast too puts your body in shock. I lost 80 pounds in 4 months, it can't be a good thing. Good for Tara's outside - not so good for Tara's inside. Thanks for posting a reply Michelle! Tara

Tara I know i am a bit late to respond BUT it will stop coming out soon. it is only temporary so dont go and cut off all your hair just yet. when i saw you 2 wks ago it didnt look bad at all. i wouldnt never have noticed at all that you were losing hair. i really think you notice alot more than other people do. but like i told you mine came out pretty bad then all of a sudden it started growing back in really quick and it is way thicker and curlier than it was before. so just try to bear with it and it should stop soon. see ya on the 20th.... cheryl k
