Need Hairstyle Advice
Well, the time has come to make some changes to my hair because I am looking like the Bride of Chuckie! I am telling you, my hair is thinning so badly that I look like a corpse. You think I am kidding, dontcha? Oh no - look at my face ... real serious ... real nervous!
Yesterday I cut my hair *gasp* to my shoulders. I know, I know - my hair has always been my security blanket as a heavy chick, but now I don't need it. I mean, I need my hair, for goodness sake, but I don't need it for the reason I needed it before.
Now, cutting it to my shoulders, I thought, would make it look fuller and less would fall out. I was wrong. It looks THINNER than it looked prior to cutting it and like - you can see through it *cries*. Now I am panicking. I need some serious advice and some counseling on what styles might look best on me. Course, that might be hard when most of you have not seen me in person, BUT .. I am confused.
I was told when I was in the hospital that I am protein and thiamin deficient (as well as iron) - super. So I know the major hair loss is from that. Ed (DH) got me some B1, but it's a chalky small pill and makes me ralph. Ima mess!!
So I need a new hairstyle before y'all see me on Saturday. Otherwise, this cat is wearing a hat!
Thanks (in advance) for your help!
Tara

Sorry to hear about the hair thinning. I hid behind my hair as a heavy girl as well. I always had hair to my waist and when I was pregnant I cut it to my shoulders and I will never go back!
It looks like you have naturally curly/wavy hair? I would apply a small amount of mousse at the roots when hair is 70% dry and flip your head over and blow dry. While your hair is still flipped over apply a bit of hair spray and flip head back and arrange hair how ya want it and spray some more. That should give you more volume. There is a line of products that I adore, Charles Worthington. I beleive it might only be available at walgreens. At least that is the only place that I have that has had it. They have a great blow dry spray that gives good volume and their shine spray is to die for. For some reason my hair is a lot less shiny since surgery.

Hi Eileen!
Thank you so much for the styling advice. I do actually do my hair that way because it is naturally curly, but .. it is so thin that even with the mousse/lift/flip/dry thing, you can still see a good portion of my scalp as well as noticing how awfully fine my hair is.
I will take a look into Charles Worthington.
I love shiny hair .. I haven't had that since surgery either. So sad!
Thanks again Eileen!

Tara:
I know what you mean about the hair getting thinner. I have started to use volumizing product and it seems to make my hair appear fuller. I have cut it really short which has helped too. I am really bothered by my thining hair but either my friends are really nice to me or they lie well because whenever I ask them if they notice my hair they tell me no it looks great. So maybe we notice the change more than others.
Take care!!! See you on the 20th.

Hi Chryssie:
How do you like your hair since you've cut it short? I am thinking about doing it .. going short. I am a wreck though because if it doesn't look right, Ima be in big twubble!
Friends are so wonderful, aren't they? Most tell me it still looks wonderful, but ... I think they are great liars.

It really was not an adjustment for me. My hair was on the short side to start with. I just had them cut it really short. It also needs to be colored soon so that makes it look thinner also. Look in hair cut magazines to get ideas of what styles you are interested in. I would not go from long to short in just one cut though. The layers idea is a good one. If you choose to go short I would do it over time.
Best of luck to you!!!

Ok Tara, two things, first of all LAYERS! if you layer your hair it adds volume It doesn't weigh it down and you should see a difference right away, secondly have you tried the pantene for thinning hair? It REALLY adds thickness after just a couple of shampoos/conditioning. I use it and my hair is pretty thick already, (just trying to prepare for the dreaded hairloss)
Hope it helps,
Robin
When I went to the hairdresser yesterday, so suggested long layers. She said if I do a lot of little layers, it will make my hair look more scarse. It doesn't make much sense, because seriously, looking at my hair after the cut, it looks exactly the same, just shorter and I am not thrilled.
She also told me to stay away from thinning shampoos. Well, I haven't tried it, but I will because I am desperate at this point.
Thanks for the advice Robin!!
