Pre-op jitters
Epidurals hurt just a minimal amount when they first put it in. No more than a bee sting though. I have never had an epi in conjuction with general anethesia but with childbirth it made ALL the difference in the world!
Good luck with your surgery. It is completely natural to be nervous. Just keep in mind that you are doing a wonderful thing for yourself. I was nervous immediately before my surgery but on surgery day I woke up completely calm and ready to go!

My surgery is on Thursday, and I am also nervous. Not so much about the surgery, I feel very comfortable with Dr. Bell, but nervous about the huge changes in my life. I am such a huge emotional eater that I am afraid of what will happen when the cravings come. I am glad to have this board to turn to and my support group.
