The Journey has begun...

After waiting over two months, I went to the group informational session with Dr. Barba tonight. He seems to have a great sense of humor and made me feel at ease with the questions that he answered. I got my packet, to begin making all the appointments. A bit overwhelmed at this point, but off to a good start with a positive attitude. I wanted everyone to know that I am more a lurker than anything, I love reading everyone's posts, keep up the good work. Melissa B.

Melissa, It can be daunting look down that long list that you must do before surgery but trust me it will go by pretty quickly once the ball starts rolling. Good luck on your journey! Eileen

Hi Melissa! Congrats!!! I am right behind you! I got my PCP on my side today for a referral source...a BIG step as he used to be against it..or at least leery...and I go to my first info seminar for Dr. A next Wednesday the 17th! Having made the decision after tons of debate and gnarly moods, I am SURE it is the right thing to do. I am sure you will jump through all the hoops just fine!!! Best Wishes! Sher'

Thanks to all the well wishers, I am on my way, scheduled my first two appointments yesterday. This board is so supportive, its nice. I am not finding so many people supportive elsewhere. My husband is behind me, which is nice, however, extended family is not. I havent really told anyone at work, I'm a little leary. Thanks for all the great responses. Melissa.

Hi! I have not spread my intentions too far at work either...people have a lot of feelings around this type of surgery...few are neutral, and I find the process taxing enough without having it fed into the "work chat mill"...keep 'em guessing! Not really any of their business! People are afraid of what they don't understand....but few of them understand what it is like to live in an obese body either! Be good to ourself ans best wishes!
