Drama on the Main Boards

Holy freaken drama on the main boards today. I don't go on them usually, but sometimes I like to see what is going on! I can understand why people are upset about the sharing of your profile, because I don't like what is going on either, (this website is sharing our profiles with other websites - OH knows about the issue and is addressing it) but these people can get a little testy with each other. Hi! Testy ain't the WORD!!! Some of these folks will really climb your frame! It gets rude..obnoxious and a lot like Jerry Springer...Can you feel the Love? Nope...I sure can't...but some of it is amusing in an "americana trash" kind of way...no topic goes uncovered...details on taking a poop...pubic lifts...does not leave much to the imagination.... Makes me realize I don't get out enough...lol... I did not know they were sharing our profiles but I instinctively went back and reduced mine to almost nothing...the other thing is when you register..they actually ask for your social security number...and to say the least..this is NOT a secure server....a hacker could have a FIELD day! So...this is all free...so I can't really complain...I'm not much of a joiner and definitely not a clique type either, so that wipes me off the roster for ALL of the boards...but during times of boredom and speculation about WLS...this is a no cost information and entertainment (sic) resource. Have my info seminar at MMH this coming Wednesday...first hoop will be jumped and then I can get an appointment with Dr. A....seeing PCP tommorow and giving him a heads up on my intentions...if he is not going to come aboard with it...time for a new PCP..we'll see!

Hi Phyllis! I've posted a few times on the message board and a couple of times I have gotten such NASTY and unwarranted responses from people, it made me not want to post there anymore. I still do once in a while, but I don't get in the middle of the nonsense. I just lurk. I like our little CT section. I"ve met some incredible people, and look forward to meeting even more. I honestly think that I've made so many better decisions because of the advice I've gotten from these boards. You guys are the BEST!!!! shhhhhhh......what's that sound? Is that the sound of people moving over to make room for me on the looooooooser's bench???? ;) Phylllis - I just adored meeting you - I think you are such a warm and wonderful person. Just wanted to tell you that this morning. Hey - are you working this weekend at the beauty shop?

There's never a shortage of drama when you get a lot of people with a lot of opinions involved. What I like most about the CT board is that we ALWAYS respect each other. I don't care if I feel what someone is saying is wrong or I don't agree, I acknowledge that it's not my job in life to change them, and I am able to offer them support and perhaps an alternative point of view in a supportive, positive way. Why is that so hard for some people? I'll never understand it. Now, most of you know....I'm NOT one to keep my opinions to myself. (LOL) If I think there is something that needs to be said...I'll be the first one to point out the pink elephant standing in the middle of the living room! But, I NEVER NEVER do it in mean spirit, and I think people know that. There's a difference between honesty and meanness that people on the main board just DON'T GET most of the time. Having said all that, I believe that today's hub-bub with the use of our profiles is a good reason for uproar. YOUR profile is being used to promote the services of a group of doctors you've NEVER even met. That's just WRONG. In addition, they've taken YOUR email address and made it public, without your consent. They don't even make our email addresses public on this site, so I don't know why they would allow anyone else to do it. They MUST do something about this issue, or it destryos the trust we have in the integrity of this site. My profile is there to share my journey with other WLS'ers and those considering surgery- NOT to sell some doctor's services that I don't even know. Anyhoo- I decided, at the suggestion of someone on the main board, to add a disclaimer to the beginning of my profile for all *****ad. This is what I choose to do rather than yanking my info and denying the support to my friends here. I'm here for a reason, and I can assure you, it aint entertainment. No one is going to stop me from supporting my peers. I'd highly recommend that until OH gets this issue squared away in an ethical manner (which may NEVER happen) that you all post a disclaimer at the beginning of your profiles too. Good idea about disclaimer... Point of Fact: Until security and/or ethics change, anyone with minimal 'puter knowledge can cut the parts they don't like right out. Theoretically they could splice profiles together just by using copy/paste. Bye the bye, I came in here looking for information, friendship and support...the CT board seems straight up and ethical and I have gotten 2 out of three of my expectations met. Not bad in today's world.... some stuff on the main board gets so out there you HAVE to laugh..and I personally scratch my head.....I have moved on to some of the other boards too..under "forums"..interesting reading...especially the "complications" board. You're absolutely right Sher' On another note....I wish that eventually we'll be able to provide for all three of your needs. Will you consider joining us for our friendly get together on November 20th? There's lots of folks in all walks attending. We'd love to get to know you in person, as a friend.
