I've got my date!
Congratulations. The big day will be here before you know it.
A word of advice...stay away from any negative postings, and especially the main message board where there may be a lot of complications posts, etc.
Just focus on your big day and prepare for it.
What I did was get some WLS books from the library and read them. Just wanted to get very well versed on the surgery and what to expect.
Some things to remember to buy:
*Calorie free beverages like:
decaf coffee and tea
crystal lite (or the like) mixes
*Unflavored protein (I used Unjury from unjury.com cause it's medical grade and is great)
*Flavored protein drink mixes
*A couple of the Isopure kool aid type bottles of drinks to see if you might like those better. (GNC or Vitamin Shoppe they have many flavors)
* A tongue scraper (for when you're in full ketosis and the protein will cake up on your tongue. It's gross, and may make you gag, but it saved a lot of us.
*Sugar free mints to help those around us from having to smell our bad breathe!
*food scale for when you go on mushies and beyond
*I swore by the Smar****er (just plain water with electrolytes in it) I got weak and they helped replenish.
*Little medicine cups (ask the hosptial to give you a whole bunch) for sipping and putting your meds in and for measuring, too.
*a slip on slipper/sandal or shoe that you can easily slip on after surgery when you have to walk the halls.
*Whomever picks you up from the hosp, have them bring a folded up towel or pillow so that you can place on your belly to brace yourself when going over bumps, etc. Also use it at home when you're about to sneeze!
I wish you the best of luck on your new journey. It is an exciting and scary time right now, but knwo that you're doing this for YOU and you'll be a big LOSER (never thought you'd love being called that!) in not time...
Write me at [email protected] if you have any other questions.

I LIVED for the pillow for car rides for about 2 weeks! Get breath spray too for that first day in the hospital when you can't drink anything. That saved me from going too crazy. I wouldn't stock up too much on the drinks since your taste change after surgery. I know one guy who can't drink anything too sweet. That includes the protein drinks and crystal light stuff. I couldn't stomach the cream of chicken soup I bought or the chicken broth afterwards. Don't get me wrong, get some of it but don't spend too much. Oh and wait until after the fact for milk if you are the only one drinking it. I couldn't handle Lactaid and had to use soy.
I shall now be know as Hagatha: Queen of the queens.
