form letter
Hi, Cindy!
According to Lois, after you first meet with Dr. A., his office sends a letter to your PCP stating that he met with you and providing suggesting wording for the PCP's letter of medical necessity. I checked with my PCP's office earlier this week and they had never received that letter (even though I saw Dr. A. Oct 8th), so I called Lois and asked her to please fax another copy of the letter to my PCP. Because Dr. A.'s office is moving (they're closed tomorrow and Friday and will be in their new office on Monday), I told my PCP's secretary that I'd rather they didn't mail the letter and to call me when it's ready so that I can pick it up instead. I have my follow-up appointment with Elina next week and this way I can just hand her the letter and have her stick it right into my file instead of having to wait until it gets sorted and filed with the rest of the mail they receive. Well, within just a few hours of my call to Lois, my PCP's secretary called to tell me that the letter was ready! So Lois, my PCP and his staff all moved quickly. Hopefully my insurance company will move as quickly when it's their turn.
So my suggestion is that you call your PCP and see if they got the letter and if not, ask for their fax number. Then on Monday, call Lois. BTW, even though the office address is changing, their phone numbers are remaining the same.
