Question for Kathy K and whomever else had surgery recently with Dr. Aranow. Where you weighed before surgery. I am asking because Tammy L and I went to the pre op class tonight and that is what they told us. They stated the Dr will cancel surgery if you did not keep your weight loss off that h requested you lose. Is this true.

Hi No They did not weight me when I was prepare for surgery but do not eat alot of foods before surgery because of your liver. If you stick with diet foods until surgery then it will make more easier for Dr Aranow to operate inside your stomach. Hugs Kathy K

Hi girlfriend! It was so nice to meet you tonight! You are GORGEOUS, girl! You and I should paint the town red once we are well into our recovery journey (and on solid foods ha ha!!). I'm freaking out about the weighing part. Not that I've been bad, not at all, but I know I haven't been eating 700 calories a day.....for sure......damn that Halloween candy! I loved the meeting tonight - I thought it was informative, to the point, but it didn't scare me. I"m ready to work hard - and now I have you for a walking partner! I hope if we have to share a room, I get to share one with you!!! Talk to ya soon! Tammy

They didn't weigh me either and I have heard from numerous other people that they didn't weigh them either. However, I would really try to stay below that point because just what if they decided to weigh you and you were over the weight and they had to reschedule you! Imagine your disappointment. And like kathy said, watch your weight and carb intake at least a week to two weeks pre surgery to help shrink your liver. It can make quite a difference in the surgery. Also, i guess the main thing that you should keep in mind is te he real reason why Dr. A wants you to lose the weight and keep it off. It's to see your dedication to changing your way of life. Eileen

Hi, I also had surgery last month with Dr. A. and he did not weight me. However, while I was recovering I met a man who had his surgery the day before me with Dr. A. He was originally scheduled to have his surgery a few months before, but told me that after having the IV placed in his arm it was determined that he was no longer at his "goal" weight and his surgery was cancelled. So, do what you need to do to maintain your "goal weight". This is MOST IMPORTANT for your safety and to make the surgery easier for Dr. A. Best of luck, Lori

HI Toy I had surgery on 9/24 with Dr. Aranow and I had the same concern. One of my MDs gave me a med that increases your appetite and I was gaining weight. They told the same story at the pre-op class I wnt to. I had a meltdown and called lois the next day she told me not to worry about it...but I did. I went to the hospital fully expecting to be sent home.....there was NO weigh in....no scale. Hope this helps angel
