NEED EXERCISE ADVICE
HI All
I know I need to exercise.....can't walk...back problems and shortness
of breath....breathing problems (my fault 40 years of smoking)
Ithought about curves or a personal trainer I'm leaning torwards a personal trainer since I need exercises tailored to my physical limits.
How do I find one?? What do they cost? anybody have any experience
that might help? I 've lost about 25 lbs since I was banded 9/24
but I"m still a very big (but georgous) woman and I don't want to go to
a gym with all sexy young'ns in their leotards and have all heads turn when I walk in for the wrong reasons. Any advice would be appreciated.
thanks angel
One possibility is to go through the nearest hospital -- many of the hospitals down here now have exercise programs, and they have personal trainers with whom you can work.
When I started exercising, I was coming off of 3 months of pretty much no activity due to complications, and I found it very helpful to work with a personal trainer at the gym. Yes there are super-fit people there, but there are also people like us struggling to get healthy. When I went in, I told the people at the gym that I had just had the surgery & had open wound, etc., along with a herniated disc & blown-out knee. They gave me the trainer who had the best experience with people who needed to go slow & learn how to do things correctly so as not to cause injury.
I know a lot of people love Curves, and you could ask your doctor if that's okay for you. I would have joined myself but the Fitness Edge was just down the street from me, so laziness won!
Good luck!!

Angela,
I had the same fears when I first joined a gym. I thought I would be the fattest person there (and I am not) and I thought that people would stare and/or laugh at me (they have not). I just remind myself every time that those fears rise up that I am going there to better myself. And that I have just as much right to be there as every skinny minnie there!
I think the average price range you will find for a personal trainer is between 40-60 per session. I have never done curves but did go to check one out and it really seems like a program that you could tailor to your own personal fitness and capability level.

P.S. Congrats on the wonderful weight loss so far!
