surgery on tuesday
I was freaking out thinking there was something else I could have done. I mean surgery is the last resort. I think it's normal to have these kind of feelings. As long as you know you are making the right choice then you are about as prepared mentally as you can get. You really have no clue what it really is like until after the fact. The only advice I can give you is make sure this is what you want and read up on aftercare esp the food part to be ready for that. Good luck on Tuesday!

If you are unsure about your decision, it is NOT too late to back out. This is a life changing/altering situation and it will change how you have to eat for the rest of your life. It changed my and my husband's lives (he had it too)...I am so much better now with 130 lbs gone. I look younger and feel younger. The adjusting takes some time, but it's do-able.
It's not a cure all...remember that. You will have to still look at yourself as being a person that is prone to obesity and will have to live and work your "rules" for the rest of your life, because regain is possible and doe happen if you don'****ch out.
I'm in this position right now. I don't think people put enough emphasis on that part in the beginning because they are so psyched to have the surgery and get all the weight off, but, the maintaining is the hardest. You have to make sure you do not go back into old bad habits of grazing when you're stressed or bored or tired.
I've had a tremendous amount of stress and life issues going on the last 10 months or so and I veered back to eating the wrong foods (comfort foods like carbs) and I've gained 30 lbs. I'm now in a group to help me re-think things and get back on track.
I wish you all the best of luck, and don't sweat it...you'll do great and you're doing this for you..that should be big enough reason. You want to save your life. Good for YOU!

I felt that same way you do. I had my surgery 8 days ago and the whole time before and even now I'm not do cart wheels and jumping up and down. I think it's because it is a big change but, a change that was needed. I had some problems about 8 years ago and ended up having 6 surgeries with in 4 months time, and since then had a hernia repair and gall bladder removed, so I was thinking I've had my share of surgeries, why go and have another one that was by choice and not need but, it was needed. But you do need to be ready for this mentally, it's going to be alot of hard work but, just think of the benefits you will receive !! Best of luck to you !
