FYI
I hope Al Roker doesn't put a negative spin on this. He certainly has profited from it in many more ways than one.
2 years ago, when I was first on my journey and I met people from all over the country on this website (see my profile for details) we went to the TODAY show hoping to catch a glimpse of the person that inspired us all so much. Well, we were greeted with "MR. Roker does not wish to discuss his WLS with anyone". We all stood outside waiting and hoping only to find out he was not going to appear. we were so disappointed. Not in him, just in the negativitity of it all.
This IS a dangerous surgery, but it is also life saving. I hope they emphasize THAT!!!
hugs to all,
Cheryl
This is the article I got off my home page... I guess we will have to wait and see. ~Robin
NEW YORK (AP) - NBC's Al Roker reports on his health since his gastric bypass surgery, and the potential dangers and benefits involved in the procedure, in an hour-long special to air Friday night on "Dateline NBC."
Roker, the weatherman on the network's "Today" Show, underwent gastric bypass surgery two and one-half years ago.
"For anybody who thinks that this is a magic bullet - you do this and it's done. You're making a mistake. It's not," he says.
In the four-part report, "Weighing the Risks," Roker talks to teens, parents and a physician about some possible dangers, and whether teens have a tougher time dealing with emotional and physical changes that come with the surgery.
