HI to all. I to have Aetna and when I read the 'so sad news' email I got upset to!!! BUT this is how it works: Aetna as an insurance company does NOT cover Gastric Bypass or any other weight related surgeries. BUT what happens is the company that YOU work for covers a rider with Aetna to cover it. So what that means if you call Aetna and ask do you cover it, they say NO But if you call with your member id# they can look up how your company has either the extra benefits covering many procedures that Aetna does not cover. So call with YOUR insurance information and see if they cover it..... Hope this makes sense!!! Carrie

Good point, Carrie. This is the case with every carrier. They all have many different plans with different riders purchased by each employer. It's always a good idea to give your specific policy information so the representative can check to see if you have the appropriate rider for this type of coverage. Tara

but they still might have the rider in place. Check. All it will cost you is a phone call to human resouces. Peter

I might have found a loop hole.... I have been seeing my PCP on a monthly basis since May... that is over 6 months.... I talked to Lois and she said that I would need to get my doc's records... So there is still hope.
